Not sure if this has been talked about or not. But is there a patch or mod that will allow to disable features on the stock OS?

Depends what features you want to remove. Some of them are threaded so deep into the OS that you can't just uninstall a part of it without using a custom ROM.

Thanks! I'm new to rooting and modding Android phones, any links or forums you know of that are helpful for installing titanium?

Prefer to keep stock ROM. I'll just live with the ones that can't be uninstalled. Thx

Rogers/ATT Galaxy S3 Root/Recovery Guide - xda-developers

XDA is your best friend for this stuff. Read lots- there's a lot of information for you and your phone to get the most out of it.

And Titanium Backup is just an app in the Play store. You can only install it if you have root though, hence the need for root.

If you're just removing stuff, you can get away with the free version. However if you want to do any app backups (only really necessary if you wipe your phone often. Say, while installing custom ROMS), you'll soon realize why the paid version of TB is one of the (if not the) most popular paid apps in Play.

Having a bit of an issue with tethering on my S3. My S3 is on Fido, when I enable tethering I can connect but I can't connect to the internet and my S3 assigns an internal ip of 192.x.x.x. I read that tethering is disabled for non-Rogers sim?

how many applications do you have running? close your programs using your task manager and see if that affects the count

I use this one:

Works for all device sizes since it comes with different tab lengths to hold the phone vertically. You can swivel and tighten it. It also works on many surfaces. Used it with the Nexus 7, Note, S3, S2, and 9900.

Very strange. I found this though

"So I Think I really fixed it this time.
Well, seems like the problem came back. Earlier this morning Android System was up to 60%.
Installed an app to digg deeper into what is using up so much cpu time.

There is a service called gsiff_daemon. This service was listed as the top user of CPU time. This service seems to be related to the gyroscope of the phone. No one knows for sure.
There are a few threads on this forum and xda forums. Solution was to remove the file completely from the /system/bin folder (need root). No one has reported any issues with removing this file so far.

Remove the file, rebooted, Android System is now 9% !"
