My commute is pretty much all highway driving, and it's averaged 9.4L/100km through the last 4 tanks of gas. The commute is just driving in a line of cars into work and home, there's no point in driving like a yahoo, if you pull out and mash the throttle in the few passing lanes, you just end up 4 or 5 cars ahead in the same line of cars. The Coyote can be ridiculously fuel efficient for a 5L V8 engine but it's pretty easy to deteriorate that number...quickly, after a Duffey Lake Road run to Lillooet it will not be the same result.

The funny thing is that my '18 WRX STI with a 2.5L engine was averaging 9L/100km on the same commute, the Coyote is double the displacement and delivering similar fuel economy. That being said, the EJ motor in the WRX is a dinosaur of an engine, known to deliver crappy fuel economy.

^ you know what, it's kinda true, that old saying about the smaller engine car isn't always better on gas. My 5.5 v8 AMG pretty much gets within 1 to 2 l/100km on a highway cruise than my 2.4l Honda or Toyota. But it has like double the HP and torque. I idling in city traffic doe.

Replaced the stock rear diffuser and stock exhaust with a new axleback on my Mazda 3.

Anyone know what I could expect if I were to sell these? I'm thinking $100-150 on the diffuser would be great, but no idea about the stock exhaust.

Are VI's still common? Friends recommend I keep the stock exhaust for now just in case.

If you have space, I would always recommend keeping your stock parts... people don't wanna buy modified cars. Better to put it back to stock for selling the car and then sell your modified parts separate.

I replaced my mom's Acura auto transmission. Nobody in town has Kooler Kleen so I manually backflushed the cooler with atf and compressed air. Lots of material came out. I just went on Amazon and ordered a same day inline transmission filter, Acura should have put an external filter on at the factory.

I marked the subframe and all the bolts and the steering wheel came out crooked, I’ll have to align it tomorrow.

Replaced my radiator and expansion tank holder in the E46 'vert over the weekend. I replaced almost everything else in the cooling system a few weeks after I bought the car (expansion tank, hoses, and water pump), but still had a coolant leak. After further examination, I noticed that the original BMW radiator had a leak at the top.

Of course, something had to happen (as it always done when I work on a car) when I re-assembled everything - a plastic o-ring inside one of the coolant hoses fell out when I lubed the rubber o-ring and got lost somewhere between my radiator support and A/C condenser unit. I had to drive to Lordco and drop another $50 on a cooling hose that I just replaced a couple of months ago.

Installed a spoiler, holy crap what a production, they provide phillips head bolts made of pure playdohnium, total garbage. Binned their hardware and installed 6mm allen head bolts. My son and I swapped out the exhaust a few days ago. just need to get the wheels sorted and it's done...for now. Will probably paint the brake calipers at some point (but I will not be upbadging them with Brembo stickers..)

Thank you? “Interesting” is how I politely describe things of which I’m not a fan.

I like it and I’m pretty OK if it’s not what others would choose.

Wrenched yesterday with a few friends from 9am to 1am. We did 3 cars and as usual it took longer than expected. Felt like the good old days with my E46, complete with random problems, dropping sockets into engine bays, and someone saying "wow that was easy" and jinxing us lol.

Did a full fluid flush (trans, engine, coolant, and brake) on my FK8 as well as doing Powerstop Track Day pads front/rear. I made the mistake of buying all my fluids (except for brake) from Honda, I thought it'd be cheaper than BMW, but it wasn't as significant as i thought. Brake fluid I went with SRF.

You'd think by now I'd have invested in a pressure bleeder. Well after doing 2 Type Rs and a Type S, we're definitely getting a pressure bleeder.

Had a few uh-oh moments. Totally thought I was gonna run out of coolant during the bleed. Used 1.5L, took 0.5L out after I was done. Trans flush was pretty easy, except the parts people at Honda had no idea what washers were needed. Honestly, the hardest part about the job was taking out my PRL intake (which admittedly is a bitch) and taking off the oil filter.

Man I miss top mounted oil filters.

On a side note, I bought Honda software onto my Foxwell scanner (had this preloaded for BMW) that I thought would work with the Electronic Parking Brake maintenance mode. It unfortunately did not. It was pretty easy to remove the EPB manually, but it comes at an expensive risk of damaging it.

I spotted this bolt trying to make a break for it.

So I tightened it up and checked the others, they were all where they're supposed to be. I also tossed on the hitch tightener and tightened up the bolts on the tire carrier to hopefully get rid of some of the clunking and rattling I've been getting.

I did a HPDE day at CTMP with my local PCA group. Two full days of instruction and lots of laps.

Lots of GT cars in my run group. I'm able to hang with most of them on the corners but on the backstraight just before Turn 8, they fly by me and disappear and end up lapping me.

For those of you who don't know, CTMP is a very high speed track (2nd fastest in North America I read somewhere??) so it's a great place for high powered cars to let off some steam, but for slower cars, a great place to learn and develop. A very humbling experience this weekend.

Edit: Here's another from a photo one of the members snapped and sent to me. This was our first run of the morning and probably my fifth lap around the track. Interesting time the photo was taken. (Credit to Roy Ojala. If you're reading this, thanks for all the advice and encouragement!)

Replaced the door jamb lock sensor today. This is what I call BMW problems - random bullshit.

Here's what it looks like cut open - a clean break.

Here's what it's supposed to look like.
