I'd figure out which plug was used, get spare male and female sides of them, and make covers. Basically just silicone up the holes for the wires and put them on.

^ thanks

the plugs are color coded right now, the left one being white, and the right one being black. But ill go ask my service guys if they have spare male/female connectors and then tape them up with this fancy grease.

Took a couple days off to soundproof the interior of my car. Taking out the interior was pretty easy - if it wasn't for a sticky seatbelt bolt I would have been done in 90 mins. About 40% done with the main cabin - put in sound deadener and closed cell foam today and the next 2 days will be putting in mass load vinyl (sound blocker). Doors will get done sometime down the road.

I've done it twice on other cars - on my TSX it was helpful (doors and trunk) but I only did deadener. My FIL also drove a TSX so we could compare back to back and it was noticeable - it didn't make it quiet but there was a real difference.

I've taken sound readings this time around so I can do before and after comparisons - typically a thorough job leads to 3-5db improvement at highway speeds. I'll know by Sunday how well the floor and trunk work - the doors I won't get to for a couple weekends. I'm hoping I can fit vinyl on the doors as that would probably help a lot but the door panels might fit too tight to the door to allow for it.

I got all my stuff from Second Skin Audio - Damplifier Pro, Overkill and Luxury Liner. I used them years ago on the TSX and the stuff still holds up fine - it's a fair bit pricier than the stuff on Amazon but worth it for the quality.

Ha, nothing here. It's all about killing off road noise for me. The RDX is way noisier than it should be for a "luxury" car - the minute the road surface is anything less than pool table smooth it gets loud. Thought it was my tires but every set I've tried sounds the same.

ive read somewhere that if you spray the wheel wells with sound insolating foam along with the undercarriage, it makes a huge difference in road noise. I think there was a video on youtube about it, but i cant seem to find it.

Props to you for ripping that RDX apart man, holy crap would make me nervous doing such a project myself.

I put sound deadening mats and fabric behind the wheel wells on both of my cars (Mazda and Tesla). The noise killing very obvious for my Mazda. Tesla is another story when it comes to tire noise, the wheel noise comes from suspension to the chassis. nothing much can do about it.

definitely the first thing you should do with noise.

It was surprisingly easy to get the interior out - other than a sticky seatbelt bolt everything just popped out with no broken clips. Took just over 2 hours. Getting it back together again will be trickier - the tolerances are pretty tight with and I'm basically adding a 1/8" of material everywhere so some stuff might be a bit jammed in.

re: Wheel wells - yeah, there's spray on deadener available too (https://www.secondskinaudio.com/soun...pectrum-liquid). Depending on how well things go I might do that too - the rear wheel wells have OEM deadener on it but the fronts are hard to get to from the inside.

Does anyone here have a hookup for a 3SGE / Beams engine including (manual) transmission + ECU + wiring harness? I’m aware of some on FB Marketplace or 1 that has been on CL for years but asking here in hopes of something better quality / better deal.

Maybe message Derek (ice racing) he has 2 altezza’s and I think one might end up being either sold or parted. Can’t remember off hand

Got the interior wrapped up this morning and managed to put the interior back together smoothly - nothing broke, it all clipped back together like normal and the interior looks exactly like it should (normal). 16 hours of labour - if I weren't so out of shape I think I could have done it in 12 hours or I would have done an even more detailed job.

Except disaster strikes - the car won't start now. I had the battery disconnected for the two days (I was advised to do this as the seats were being taken out and the airbag sensors might trip) and now the immobiliser isn't letting it start. It seems the immobiliser may have forgotten our key fobs - the fobs lock/unlock, car cranks but the immobiliser won't let it start. Talked to the dealer and now I need to get it towed in for a look. Fuuuuuuu.

The doors aren't done yet but I'll share sound level results once I get the car running again.

No luck - the fob works for everything except for firing up the car. Will change the key fob battery just in case and test it tomorrow. Remote start connects and cranks but car won't actually start, just errors out. Fuse box checks out - thought I might have nicked something but everything is in the right place.

If you've got a scanner check for codes, it might give you something specific that it's unhappy about.

I'm starting to dislike Lordco. I threw a belt off my hatch last night, common belt size(4pk820, well 805-835 would do). Even the tiny local Napa store stocks it but they're closed today. Guy at Lordco didn't have it so I got the next closest length he said he had(too long). I swapped on another used belt from my parts hoard and will return this belt to Lordco. The kicker, $16 no discount at Napa and $35 with my discount at Lordco. No wonder I order so much stuff from the USA.

So I work on the TSX instead, valve adjustment, new vtec seals/screens, valve cover gasket and grommets. New ac compressor should be here tomorrow. Something like 345k kms on it, it runs mint and looks decent. But I find I've been spending a fair amount on parts lately.

5pm now, Lordco is now closed.

Lordco is fucking horseshit. It's 5x the price it should be for the convenience of getting it quickly. Not to mention people act like you've kidnapped their firstborn if you need to even get and item rang up at the till. Complete garbage company.
