I dont love my car that much either but once I start something, I’ll obsess over every little detail until the job is done the way my mind thinks it should be. Otherwise I cant relax. I was originally going to order xice snow but the reviews for the viking contact 8 seemed on par with xice.

I have access to one from work.

I may have a mild case of ocd. I actually do take the time to remove every pebble from the tread with a pick before storing the wheels. I don’t feel like the job is done until I do so. It’s a bad compulsion.

Mild is an understatement. That's just borderline psychotic. :inoutugh:

Note: Some people pay huge money for that level of attention to detail. :D

Badhobz 10-28-2025 07:25 AM

exactly! your wife must either love or hate your obsessive compulsive ass.

relax guy.

Mild is the undersell of the century

I don't know how you do it man. Both my cars are caked in leaves and I honestly don't have time and can't be bothered

radeonboy 10-28-2025 10:18 AM

He's going crazy with his laser cleaner, while I found bird droppings on my car yesterday and decided today's rain can deal with it :lol

I actually don't find much joy in any of it anymore if I'm being honest. It's more of a compulsion at this point.

I know people with OCD who went untreated. It gets far worse as you get older and much harder to get out of. Just be careful.

I wasn't joking about your level of attention to detail and how you can monetize it.

There's a shop in the GTA where the guy operates similarly to you but he takes it further to full blown psychotic. A full car detail, scratches filled in, colour matched, and any dings, bumps, and bumps, he will correct. A car correction takes several weeks and people are willing to pay for his services. He has a lead time of 8 - 12 weeks, and his rates are insane. (Think dealer x 3.)

I stopped finding joy in it. I can be your level of anal about details but wife and kids kind of killed that. You can get 90% of the way there, the final 10% will take the same amount of time and effort as the first 90%, and etc etc.

I used to spend days wire tucking my computer, and trying to eke the last Mhz from OC. I haven't touched any of that in like 20 years.

The X5 has ventilated seats. BMW ventilated seats suck in instead of blowing out. My seats are saturated with fart.

The thing with dealer is you pay premium pricing for detailing, and then get a hack job

bcrdukes 10-28-2025 11:21 AM

I wasn't suggesting anyone to go to the dealer for detailing. I was using the dealer as a frame of reference as a price point.

No laser gun no care.

Anyone know how those super sized scissor jacks compare to quickjacks? I guess scissors don't allow for exhaust work?

Quick jacks: more portable, half the vertical lift on most models, cheaper.

Scissor: less portable, about 1000lbs, 4ft lift on most.
The center section is "blocked off" for alot of access. You can remove a brace on some models to increase room. With that said, i could pull my shitbox exhaust because theres enough room. C7, not so much. Depends on car.

If your looking at buying one, i can get you pics with both cars on lift for comparison

Grabbed some crappy quality phone recordings of my new HKS exhaust

RabidRat 11-02-2025 07:15 AM

Sounds pretty good!

Badhobz 11-02-2025 07:50 AM

yes agreed, it sounds way better than stock. HKS - HONG KONG SPORTS.

bcrdukes 11-02-2025 09:03 AM

Man, I love all these legacy JDM tuner brands. I remember going to Parker Place back in high school and seeing a guy with a BB6 Prelude with a massive HKS banner on the windshield thinking it stood for Hong Kong Sports.
