That was the year we could've drafted KOPITARZZZZZZZ!!! lol

If Bourdon is alive right now, he would be a big part of our D core.

Gilgamesh 08-09-2012 07:50 PM

^ Columbus would probably need it LOL. Although the 2nd overall would do no harm for them either. It would be even more annoying if Edmonton had the 1st overall again.

No shit the draft was rigged, was done "behind closed doors"

that year the pens were on the edge of their seats being relocated to portland/seattle

this lock out will probably save the coyotes from moving to quebec/seattle

I guess I wasn't clear in my post. Bettman is saying he will not proceed into the season using the same CBA that is set to expire this Sept (NHLPA has gone on record to say they are willing to begin the season without reaching a new deal with the NHL).

The reason why those fuckers want to do that is because without a new deal they can threaten to strike right before the playoffs and the owners would give them whatever they want. This is what happened in 1994 to the MLB and a lot of people are no longer fans of the MLB because of that. Who was the head of the union for MLB's players then? Donald Fehr.

I guess they could sign a no-strike clause but I doubt that.

Huet says he's in talks with Canucks and Kings, this better mean a Lu or Schnids (unlikely) trade happens soon

I would be really happy if Huet came here as a b/u. Hopefully this trade will happen soon.

I haven't been keeping up with his career...has he been doing well or something?

I think we still need a solid backup capable of playing ~30 games and bringing in at least 15-18 wins. This way we can ease Schneider in and not over work him.

Huet was loaned to HC Fribourg-Gotteron SA of the Swiss National League A to relieve the Blackhawks' salary cap issues.

In his first year with Fribourg-Gotteron, Huet played 41 games and sucked in the second half of the season, posting a 2.84 GAA with the team finishing 8th. They made the playoffs but got swept by HC Davos.

Better the next season posting a 1.99 GGAA in 39 games and finished 3rd that year defeating HC Lugano in the quarterfinals. Lost in the semifinals in 5 games.

10 years ago Brule was the 1st over-all pick in the WHL bantam draft - today he plays in the Swiss league.

News1130 Sports ‏@News1130Sports
Johannson says Brule will give NHL another shot in 12 months. Offers he did receive from NHL were not good enough to say yes.

News1130 Sports ‏@News1130Sports
Gilbert Brule's agent Gerry Johannson tells CKWX that Brule will play on the top line in the Swiss League with the ZSC Lions.
And Brule is off to the Swiss League. Crazy how a prospect can be ruined with such bad development.

He got a fair offer from the Canucks given the circumstances, ~2M/yr for 1 year to see how things worked out. The Kings just took a huge gamble on him by giving him a 3.5M/yr deal over 2 years, and the gamble paid off
