Ennis played wing due to the log-jam at the centre position and he'll shift back to his natural position.

I agree on the Grigorenko.

Yep, and a whole team of under achieving Canadians

Canucks have a sizable contingent of Americans too, now:

Kesler
Schneider
Higgins
Booth
Alberts
Ballard

also Schroeder, Sweatt, and Cannata.

OMGz he's turning into Brian Burke!

I agree on the Grigorenko.

His characteristics are more suited towards the wing than C...how many 5'9 C @ 160lbs survive the NHL and produce at the C position...at least on the wing he can use his speed and agility

We gave up spare parts worth less than Mason Raymond to get Booth and Ballard. Nothing wrong with those deals at all, just cost us some cap money. I think Booth is going to have a really strong season personally, he just needs to be utilized properly. A 100% healthy Higgins/Kes/Booth was a great line combo last season

In terms of teams courting Olli Jokinen - Friedman says the #Canucks were thougth to have offered a one-year deal.
Kind of glad we didn't get him, just because..

Btw, C Olli Jokinen's final 13 games for the #Flames -- minus-14, three points.
Also heard he's kind of a cancer.

Whats wrong with american born players? I think they have a chance to stomp team canada at the Olympics in 2014.

Nothing is wrong, who said anything was wrong. The guy I quoted said Canadians, when really there are a bunch of Americans too.

murd0c 07-03-2012 08:28 AM

Fingers crossed for Doan!!

And we got spare parts in return.

Thats over $8.4M for the next 3 years that could sign some pretty interesting players in the next little while.

Hondaracer 07-03-2012 09:08 AM

I still don't understand the hate on Ballard unless your just following the media hate

For 4.2 or whatever I'd say he's fairly servicable and has alot of potential when you look at the other signings around the league on dmen

murd0c 07-03-2012 09:12 AM

Ballard just has to play his game and he's a great D. Coach V hasn't let him play the way he should be playing since he got here which is the main issue.

Mike Oxbig 07-03-2012 09:15 AM

For those who doesnt know keith ballard's potenial, with this scouting report he is worth 4.2!

Quote:

Ballard is a two-way defenseman, capable of contributing both offensively and defensively. Known for his hard hitting, specifically with hip checks, he led his club in hits during his first five years in the NHL. He is also proficient in shot-blocking. Offensively, Ballard is noted as a quick and smooth skater, making him able to start plays from the defensive zone. At the 2012 Canucks SuperSkills Competition, he won the fastest skater segment by circling the rink in 13.440 seconds. He has a reputation as a player with intensity and a competitive edge

UFO 07-03-2012 09:17 AM

I would have given Ballard stud status in Florida. He's a smooth skater good puck handler and good passer. His defensive play is questionable at times, but so is Erik Karlsson's and he just won the Norris trophy.

Mike Oxbig 07-03-2012 09:21 AM

Which is why he is the ultimate fit for #5 dmen on the canucks. Ballard's pairing Tanev has all the defensive intelligent to pick up his slack while contributing offensively.

Gh0stRider 07-03-2012 09:26 AM

avs sign erik johnson to 4 yr $15M

Devils sign Salvador to 3 yr $9.5M

TPMarko 07-03-2012 09:31 AM

i like our defense right now if garrison lives up to expectations. i think it is time tanev gets a good look to fill in as the 6th D full-time. suter would have been nice but he will be pricey and plays on the left side where we are log jammed anyway.

parise would be awesome to add to kesler's line to play with booth but his asking price/term is too steep.

murd0c 07-03-2012 09:32 AM

Buddy just sent me this pic. The person in the green shirt is Carey Price at the Rodeo in Williams Lake this past weekend. I had no clue he was such a cowboy

Looks like garrison is an upgrade compare to ehroff. Where does mason raymond fit in on the roster since he helped canucks lure garrison home?

TPMarko 07-03-2012 09:37 AM

prob 3rd line/pk duty

Not really racist! 07-03-2012 10:04 AM

Prospects Camp comes to a close with a rainy climb up the Grouse Grind. The fastest group time was 45.58.

Congratulations, Prospects!

was expecting faster tbh but keep in mind it was raining like dog crap

TjAlmeida 07-03-2012 10:09 AM

Carey price is from Anaheim lake and makes it every year to the Williams lake stampede.

Looking forward to the coming Doan news when he makes his mind up.

Ugh, speaking of olympics, all the top goalies right now are Americans... unless Luongo or MAF can get their shit together, we might have issues. Although maybe Smith can takeover. Or if Brodeur still has it...

MR_BIGGS 07-03-2012 10:43 AM

Doan to the Canucks a possibility?

I think Gillis is going to be patient. He has referenced a number of times now that more deals to be had through trades than signings. He also mentioned that next year's free agency class is much better.

I think the only way he throws money around is on one year deals. I would love to see Doan sign with the Canucks for a year. One year deals and you dont' handcuff yourself next season.

I doubt Doan would sign for a 1 year deal. He's looking for job security.

RiceIntegraRS 07-03-2012 10:51 AM

Players like Doan dont sign one year deals. They want long term
Gauranteed money.
