This has been the case the entire summer.

It really comes as no surprise. The NHL and other major sport groups main choice is always to lockout instead of actually negotiating. This happened with the NBA not too long ago and so it is really no surprise.

#Canucks have re-signed goaltender Eddie Lack. The AHL Wolves goalie was originally signed by Vancouver as a free agent on April 6, 2010.
Good to see he'll be sticking around in the AHL, there was some minor concern he'd bolt back home to Swedish Elite League

dbaz 08-27-2012 10:47 AM

that contract guarantees someones gone at some point during the next season or rather soon otherwise 3 goalies on 1ways

Gilgamesh 08-27-2012 01:01 PM

^ That's actually a pretty smart contract.

Only the second year of the contract is a one way.

^ Too early to tell. Jensen is looking to be a decent pick from the 2011 draft and nucks are never in good drafting position. Maybe if the nucks didn't trade for Ballard, they may have drafted Coyle or Etem, but that's stretching it.

jeedee 08-27-2012 10:31 PM

People always seem to forget that Ballard was acquired BEFORE Hamhuis signed. Ballard was basically plan B if Hamhuis didn't sign with us.

I definitely see Ballard bouncing back next season if AV utilizes him [properly]. A Ballard-Tanev pairing is solid.

RiceIntegraRS 08-27-2012 11:15 PM

I thought we went after Ballard cause MG was uncertain of Willie Mitchells future.

Anyways i like our team alot. No Major holes anywhere, yes there can be some improvements via trade. But guys like Kesler, Booth, Raymond ect. will have bounce back years. Which will drastically improve this team imo.

cliffhanger33 08-28-2012 07:14 AM

well....

Canucks resigned Lack yst

Hondaracer 08-28-2012 08:47 AM

The holes are a general lack of toughness

Isnt that the theme every year?

spoon.ek9 08-28-2012 09:39 AM

Ballard and Tanev were actually a solid pairing. If they can get a good season together, it would be beneficial come playoff time.

In HOCKEY related news... Malkin has signed with the KHL for one year worth 7mil with out clause if season starts halfway through the KHL
