I miss watching Burnaby Joe. Guy was a beast.

d1 11-13-2012 08:43 PM

Damn the oilers are looking good.

Justin Schultz is the current ahl scoring leader; Eberle is second with 16 points and RNH is just 2 points back of him.

jeedee 11-13-2012 09:59 PM

Dude.

It's the AHL.

murd0c 11-13-2012 10:14 PM

its the AHL but this is the best thing to happen to these younger players. This is going to make them that much better and more dominant when the season starts up this or next year.

Gilgamesh 11-13-2012 10:48 PM

I'd still expect schultz to put up nice points. The only thing holding him back is that he's not a prototypical 6'0 200 lb d-man. But I'm sure he'll manage somehow as others have done it, especially PMD.

Just looked up AHL scoring leaders. ALEX BOLDUC has 13 points. I guess AV saw something in him. lol

Coho has 1 goal and 9 assists in 9 games.

Kassian has 4 goals and 3 assists in 11 games.

If there was a higher level league they could play in, then your comment would have merit.

The important thing is that they're playing.

Boy's playing with men will be them better players. You have to remember when they come into the league they have always played with players that were around their age group. Now in the NHL they are playing with/against older fully developed players which will help them with the transition to the NHL.

Taylor Hall will probably suffer a season ending injury halfway through the year, and RNH will probably get hit with 18 different minor injuries...forcing the Coilers to miss the playoffs.

wreck 11-14-2012 05:04 PM

lol at some of you thinking the oilers might make the playoffs with that defense and goaltending..

the shrimps up front won't do a thing, they are a zero puck possession team. rush in, get a shot off or try a skilled one-on-one move. that style of play does not work in the west... in fact it doesn't even work in the east anymore, just ask the caps and lightning.

UFO 11-14-2012 05:09 PM

The current Oilers remind me of a young Blackhawks team, when Kane/Toews/Sharp were all in their entry level contracts. They developed quick and helped the team win a cup, I just don't get a sense the Oilers' kids can do the same before the team will have to ship them off (or sign them longterm and eat up big cap space and screw the rest of the team). Maybe its something about the Oilers' poor track record of developing young talent

punkwax 11-14-2012 05:39 PM

Schultz does not = Keith + Seabrook

spideyv2 11-14-2012 06:35 PM

Just realized I saw Nail Yakupov at the gym last night. He asked me where the men's bathroom was. He was wearing spandex shorts with #10 on them, and a Canucks shirt.

I knew the guy looked familiar.

jeedee 11-14-2012 06:54 PM
