I remember poker became really popular after the 2004-05 lockout.

That was just a coincidence. Poker got popular around that time and it had nothing to do with the NHL lockout.

spideyv2 11-23-2012 10:07 AM

NHL, not even once

Well Sportsnet had no hockey games to show, so they showed texas holdem!

NHL announces cancellation of 2012-13 regular-season schedule through December 14th and 2013 NHL All-Star Weekend.

No deal was going to be reached last week, two weeks ago or even a month ago. The last lockout saw only 48 games and started in mid January. The NHL will start negoiating when they will the pressure. Maybe if the players file for decertification it will even the playing field, but until then, NHL has the leverage.

I don't know if Bettman is just playing chicken, and waiting for the players to crumble and accept a proposal. It seems shortsighted to think like that because a whole season gone hurts the owners big time.

That's the problem. Even if the owners hurting big time, all the "owner" side need is 8 owners to veto a deal (I think it was 8 to control the decision making).

Craig Leipold is probably one asshole that wants to continue this. His signing of Parise and Suter. Imagine a salary roll back? :fullofwin: for him.

I meant the lockout before that one, in 1994/95.

BMW M5 11-23-2012 05:03 PM

Just cancel the whole season and call it a day.

For over half of the owners, they will make more money (or lose less) by not playing any games at all this season.

Fellow disenfranchised NHL fans, I urge you to check out tonight's Dallas Cowboys vs Washington Redskins game. Both teams are struggling to maintain a good record, and the Redskins rookie QB is FUCKING AMAZING. Seriously one of the best athletes I've ever seen. If you want to see who the next NFL superstar is going to be, check out this game!

Similar to guys like Bure and Ovechkin, he can make the game itself more entertaining to watch. You just watch the game waiting for something incredible to happen, and it does!

And I think the Cowboys will make for good potential victims for him. He tore the Eagles apart last weekend

NHL? :fuckthatshit:

:awwyeah: :awwyeah: :awwyeah: :awwyeah: :awwyeah: :awwyeah: :awwyeah:

A bit late I know, but that's as fast as I can get these games!

And if you watched, you saw that he doesn't get much help from his offensive line, but can still throw amazingly accurate passes. And we didn't even really get to see his running game this time!

So far I have been more of an RG3 fan than a Redskins fan, but now I am really rooting for them!

Does anyone still care about the lockout?

I still love my nucks! but i don't really care for hockey anymore. It's a "meh" thing to me now. If there is great, if there isn't, not caring.

I do find i fill my time when i use to watch hockey pretty religiously to doing other things, going trying new sports/going earlier to the gym/watching and catching up on shows.

But yes, this lock-out...don't care.

RiceIntegraRS 11-24-2012 11:03 AM

People say they dont care about hockey now and shit but as soon as its back on, theyll be singing a different tune. I love hockey and i love the canucks, as soon as its back on the gf and everything else will take a back seat to it.

Chicago Wolves game is on Sportsnet tonight for anyone interested.

Friday's at 5PM they also have a documentary series, Road to the Mastercard Memorial Cup, which is pretty interesting. It's basically the same as HBO's 24/7 - it follows the Saskatoon Blades to the mem cup as they are hosting this year.

Memorial Cup doc debuts Friday on Sportsnet - sportsnet.ca
