Even when NHL hockey returns, it'll be tarnished for me. It'll be tougher to be as passionate about NHL hockey. This all makes me sick.

Same, don't even care when they come back and a part of me hopes they miss the season and both sides get more yoke on there faces. What kind of prof. sports league misses two seasons in 9 years? Bush league, I hope it costs them shit loads of bank, both sides.

6thGear. 11-21-2012 06:38 PM

I feel the same. When the NHL returns, I 'll still watch it but I won't follow it religiously like before. I sure as hell don't miss it as much as the last lockout. I feel sorry for my buddy though, he bought a brand new 70" LCD just for hockey this year..haha

punkwax 11-21-2012 07:13 PM

You should be a good friend and buy him a porn to watch on that 70". He'll forget all about hockey for at least 45 seconds, depending on his skill level.

:ifyouknow:

Vansterdam 11-21-2012 07:34 PM

make sure its HD porn :jizz:

6thGear. 11-21-2012 07:45 PM

HD porn? Don't they make BluRay porn yet?

JesseBlue 11-21-2012 08:18 PM

thanks a lot phx, cbj, and the franchises that are loosing money...and yah thanks gary for being the reason why the league isnt healthy...screw the nhl as i'm pissed

kwy 11-21-2012 08:30 PM

Yeah, if those money bleeding teams from those non-hockey cities didn't exist, we probably wouldn't even have this lockout. We can probably thank Bettman for trying to expand into an area that simply isn't profitable, the people there just don't care about hockey. Should've done more research on those markets before jumping in.

and so what if the shit teams fold
i honestly dont think it will make that big of a difference from where we are now. It doesn't exactly balance anything

Fehr's history as a union head proves it all
he almost destroyed MLB

nah 11-21-2012 11:47 PM

these players will regret it. like modano said recently, 2004 was a waste to him as he lost 7M by being locked out and they agreed to a worst deal than initially offered.

history will repeat itself here with the players accepting a worst offer down the road. put it to a players vote and i bet we'd be seeing hockey played in 2 weeks.

I somewhat agree with you on this part, but with Fehr at the helm of the union, you can bet your ass this isn't going to happen. Sidney Crosby has been pretty outspoken in all this, but it seems like he's just a puppet for the media.

As many have said, I've accepted the fact that there wouldn't be hockey this year. On one hand, you have a league thats doomed from poor business decisions, and with the union, you have a leader there that is going to stick by what they want.

If Donald Fehr was willing to cancel the World Series, You can bet your ass that he would be willing to hold out the players well beyond this non-existent season.

I've never understood why the NHL doesn't let teams that can't sustain themselves just die, especially given that this is the forth lockout in twenty years as a result of them. Maybe someone can enlighten me as to why?

The SEL consists of only twelve teams, why shouldn't the NHL?

SkinnyPupp 11-22-2012 07:00 AM

Fellow disenfranchised NHL fans, I urge you to check out tonight's Dallas Cowboys vs Washington Redskins game. Both teams are struggling to maintain a good record, and the Redskins rookie QB is FUCKING AMAZING. Seriously one of the best athletes I've ever seen. If you want to see who the next NFL superstar is going to be, check out this game!

Similar to guys like Bure and Ovechkin, he can make the game itself more entertaining to watch. You just watch the game waiting for something incredible to happen, and it does!

And I think the Cowboys will make for good potential victims for him. He tore the Eagles apart last weekend

NHL? :fuckthatshit:

First, the lockout in 2004 wasn't because of teams losing money, it's because the existing CBA was stupid (players receiving 70% of overall revenue).

This year's lockout was because Fehr didn't want to start negotiating in Sept 2011, instead he tabled a proposal in August of this year.

The teams that don't sustain themselves can find a new owner that wants to own a NHL franchise and if they want to move, they can pay the relocation fee. The NHL is a business and they want to expand their market reach. Maybe in some places, it takes decades to build the game, but sometimes you have to take the lumps to make something worthwhile in the end.

Maybe instead of the having guys like Crosby and Toews shooting off their mouths, the media should interview the majority of players that don't make a shit ton of money and ask how they feel about not making any money.

I honestly haven't missed the NHL at all so far, been too occupied with NFL and at this point could care less if the NHL returns this year.

My heart is rooting for RG3 to rip it up today vs Dal, mainly cause I hate Romo, but my head is saying Dal, Romo is 5-0 on Thanksgiving, 4-1 against the spread and Dal overall is usually money on Thankgiving, line of +3.5 Redskins mmmmm haha fuck it leaving this game of my parlay cards.

dhari 11-22-2012 08:02 AM

I know it's has only been one season since the Jets have been back but are they profitable? I know they had sellout crowds and new jersey sales but does that equate to profits or at least not being in financial trouble like before?

You hear that about Romo a lot, how everyone hates him. But since I only started following this season I am clueless. Clue me in?

He gets way too much hype just because he is the qb for "America's team" the Cowboys. IMO he is extremely overrated, he's prone to turnovers and choking in high pressure situations ie.. his mulitple 3 to 5 interception games, his botched hold on the snap in the playoff versus Seattle.

His general doopey and goofy look also makes me want to punch him in the face, half the time he seems confused about his own playbook. Very similar to Jay Cutler (lol the Bears QB, not the bodybuilder) this way.

Mike Oxbig 11-22-2012 12:49 PM

The last guys similar to like of Bure and Ovechkin QB was Vick from the Falcons before the doggy attack.

Russell Westbrook from the OKC thunder has same athleticism but has almost the same faulty blame as luongo. Very fun to watch!

murd0c 11-22-2012 12:55 PM

RG3 makes Vick at his prime look like a average QB, he's that good and doesn't throw picks like Vic does

hotshot1 11-22-2012 01:35 PM

Vick in his prime threw a lot of picks? 13 is a lot?

Come on now, 14 is his highest and that's from last season. And no one thinks he's in his prime right now.

!Nhan 11-22-2012 02:17 PM

RG3 is having a beast of a game holy fuck

also I haven't missed hockey at all because the NFL is filling the void

LSF22 11-22-2012 04:55 PM

NFL!!

didnt know we had so many of you guys who would choose the NFL without hockey...

lets get these threads active so we can keep this one for the solo NHL fans

I have to admit I've been watching a lot more NFL as well.. this lockout is pretty much forcing my hand. I've been trying to get into NFL for a few years and just haven't been able to. I've watched more football this year than the last 5 combined..
