When I broke my foot from a blocked shot last year, I didnt realize til 4 weeks later. I thought I just badly bruised it. Then I was smart and invested in skate fenders..as many NHL'ers are.. best piece of equipment i've bought.

It's just beer league.. that's why I never block shots :)

It's not just blocking shots, it's taking errant shots from teammates, hard slap passes that go off in the wrong place.

I think I would wear kevlar socks. People have less control of their skates in beer league and I still have a scar in the back of my leg from a skate cut. It's even worse with those RBK Edge hockey socks, those things are super thin.

They wanted Volpatti to play more minutes in Chicago so he could develop into a 3rd liner who could also PK, etc. Calculated risk that didn't end up going the way they wanted. Kind of a strange move imo, as I couldn't see Volpatti as anything other than a 4th liner. Sucks to see him go, but it's not too hard to replace a 4th liner at the deadline for a low cost.

Also, Pinizotto is coming off of injury and should be up with the big club after a conditioning stint with Chicago.
