Next season, O'Reilly will be making $6.5m. In comparison, the Sedins make $6.1m.

Sedins gave van a big discount. So while I agree that ROR will be overpaid, it's not a fair comparison

kristianhay 02-28-2013 02:38 PM

Completely understandable that we got a huge discount, but if you look at other players making around $6.5m next year, ROR is not even in the same league.

spideyv2 02-28-2013 02:42 PM

Lol $6.5 mill is the price for a second liner these days?

Apparently Canucks also made an offer to O'Reilly

RoR potenial is a harder nose type Kesler, according to Don Cherry from what he explained about this kid during HNIC last season.

Flames are in rebuild mode, they are probably trying to rob the avs then give him a new contract in 2 year time when they get their shit together.

I refuse to believe they are in rebuild mode. Flames never seem to be able to make up their mind with how they want to build their team. They would trade away assets and picks for rental/garbage players. Then next thing they do is acquire young guns and shit. In my books, rebuilding is just bombing a couple seasons to get some draft picks. Follow in the footsteps of teams Pens, Hawks, Oils.

O'Reilly's agents have confirmed to me that Vancouver did not present an offer sheet.

--

Cmon 7seven...do you think a Calgary radio station is a legit source...let me emphasize CALGARY :lol

Anyways, I didn't think Vancouver would've made an offer sheet to O'Reilly if they didn't send one to Weber--reason?

Their original teams would've matched it easily.

Bouncing Bettys 02-28-2013 03:38 PM

LOL @ Grabner's penalty shot attempt just now.

It's actually a 5 million dollar cap hit.

People can also laugh at the Canucks.

Ballard (3rd pairing d-man) 4.2 mill
Booth (3rd liner) 4.2 mill

:lawl:

:lawl:

You can argue that Ballard was a solid top pairing defenceman while he signed that contract. Also, Booth was coming off a 31 goal season the time he signed his contract, too. Booth had a promising career, too bad it got fucked by 2 serious concussions.

Had Booth not suffered those injuries, I think he would be a solid first liner.

Mike Oxbig 02-28-2013 04:32 PM

Booth is solid but seems lost at times when he get drop passes.

Anyone notice ballard's ice time up than ever before? Could it be... like hodgson eating more ice team as trade bait :troll:

Bouncing Bettys 02-28-2013 04:33 PM

Kadri is in beast mode. He just got his first career hattrick, each one highlight reel worthy and he now leads the Leafs in points.

spideyv2 02-28-2013 04:35 PM

Leafs still willing to do Kadri + Bozak for Lu?

:troll:

Tim Budong 02-28-2013 05:22 PM

aves matched the flames offer haha

John Shannon ‏@JSportsnet

Colorado has already matched the offer sheet on O'Reilly. Wow.

See? No point in the Canucks placing an offer sheet and they never did.

Calgary radio guys as a source... :lawl:

Not really racist! 02-28-2013 05:45 PM

Rather believe Eklund than the Calgary radio guys

:troll:

kwy 02-28-2013 05:54 PM

I take back anything negative i may have said about kadri. damn. leafs have a good shot at making the post season this year.

Not really racist! 02-28-2013 06:20 PM

Kadri might be growing into the player Burke thought he would be... regardless I don't have much respect for the kid anymore after he didn't wanna shake Niederreiter's hand after the World Juniors Game a couple years back

jeedee 02-28-2013 06:26 PM

Or maybe Randy Carlyle is giving Kadri a chance to succeed with top 6 minutes, unlike the retard coach we have in Vancouver

brb Kassian on the 4th line with 6 mins of icetime, he'll SURELY produce

LUUUUUUUU 02-28-2013 06:32 PM

Luongo's twitterfeed is gold. I read his tweets every time I want a good laugh.

btw what twitter app are you using darthchilli?

Ronin 03-01-2013 12:12 AM

$6.5m for O'Reilly!? That means Landeskog gets $8m when his contract's up after next season?

Just about everyone on the Canucks took less money than they'd get elsewhere.

I could've traded for Kadri in hockey pool a couple weeks ago for Del Zotto. :okay:
