pinizotto has to go through conditioning in the ahl first, he was injured. reason they needed to waive volpatti is because they had to put pinizotto on the nhl roster before giving him a conditioning stint. ebbett will be the one to be brought up. no point in calling up jensen, not back until march 8? and we are already wasting kassian on the 4th line

florida is on the verge of a firesale, tallon is liking the thought of huberdeau, shore, budjstad and whatever player he can get this year.. drouin?, being together starting as early as next year. our yearly trade with florida might be upcoming soon.

When I heard Volpatti got waived last night I knew he was gone and didn't like it one bit. I was a big fan of Volpatti, honest, hard working, hits, fights, gritty. I know they had their reasoning but I thought it was a bad move imo.

kristianhay 02-28-2013 10:27 AM

I figure the same as well. I'm sure management knew there was interest around the league for Volpatti, you have to think we could have got SOMETHING for him.

Really Rick, really? you got to grow a thicker skin, especially if you choose to play prosports as a career, or am I cold heart not to feel sorry for him at all

Injuries, fan hatred made DiPietro contemplate suicide

When the New York Islanders placed Rick DiPietro on waivers last week, it felt like “they ripped my heart out, stabbed it, set it on fire and flushed it down the toilet.”

That’s apparently what the 31-year-old goalie told News 12 Long Island in an interview with anchor Kevin Maher.

More disturbingly, DiPietro also reportedly said his much publicized, and oft ridiculed, struggles with injuries — along with losing, and all the hatred from fans — made him contemplate suicide.

Volpatti is a better fighter than Weise.

(Update: DiPietro tells the New York Post’s Brett Cyrgalis he was being “100 percent” facetious about contemplating suicide.

It should be noted he’s made light of his situation in this way before. Last April, he told the New York Times: “There were times I was driving over the Throgs Neck Bridge and I thought I’d veer right and end it. It’s tough times. This is a tough business. Physically, it’s hard, but mentally, it’s incredible. I always say you’ve got to laugh to keep from crying, because there are those days when you sit in the stands, and your teammates are like a family.”)

Then Rick just takes a bath in the millions of dollars he stole from the Islanders and realises he doesnt have it bad at all

I'm surprised they just put him on waivers than trying to work a trade. But hey, we never get the whole story of what went down so it's hard to say what their reasoning was.

With Kes hurt now, there is definatley more of a chance that we will see Jensen play in the big league in the next few weeks.

RevYouUp 02-28-2013 11:57 AM

Getting paid millions to play a sport and living the dream of many people, and he wants to kill himself smh

Yeah, Ricky, you've got a tough life. He's a living example of a portion of professional athletes that are messed up in their heads.

Ricky, go see a shrink. :gtfo:

Tim Budong 02-28-2013 12:11 PM

Rick Dipietro.. Funny to laugh at..then suddenly..oh shit..suicide..unfunny..and now..he's become a laughing stock

Have you seen his contract?

If you think people complaining about the cap hit and length of Luongo's contract was bad....

dbaz 02-28-2013 12:15 PM

bob mckenzie on radio just said perry will not be re-signing in anah. will be traded before deadline

Bouncing Bettys 02-28-2013 12:16 PM

Considering the suicide death of Rick Rypien and the recent efforts around the NHL to address mental health, its really in poor taste to be facetious like that. I he really did consider suicide, I hope he gets help. As an athlete and a competitor, I would imagine he would glady trade his millions for a storied successful career.

Tim Budong 02-28-2013 12:22 PM

I can't be bothered to pity for Ricky here
that is all

grow a fucking pair, stop toying with the media to stay relevant.

I'm not sure if falcon was talking about Volpatti or DiPietro. I'm thinking the former...

murray doesn't want to be dicked around like the devils were when parise left. to top it you gotta think selanne and koivu are probably done after this year leaving them with getzlaf and ryan out of all they had upfront

Mike Oxbig 02-28-2013 01:02 PM

Flame suit on:

Kesler booth for Getzlaf Perry + 2 first round picks then aquire penner :derp::derp::derp::derp:

What's up PPG line 2007!

Gilgamesh 02-28-2013 01:03 PM

^ Remember, Schultz left and Bobby Ryan was mentioned in a lot of trade rumors. I would suspect the culture is unbearable.

Mike Oxbig 02-28-2013 01:08 PM

We need a game breaker anyways and no chance ANA will trade perry to us since we will be in the same conference next year. Unless you throw Jensen in the mix similar type player, too risky for an UFA

Flames sign O'Reilly to a 2 year $10M offer sheet. Doubt the Avs going to match it or they would've sign him long ago

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=417051

kristianhay 02-28-2013 02:12 PM

Flames give up this years 1st and 3rd if it doesn't get matched. Too much money for O'Reilly imo, who has had one good season of 55pts. Thinking he deserves that much more than Duchene is pretty retarded.

Next season, O'Reilly will be making $6.5m. In comparison, the Sedins make $6.1m.
