His reason for taking time off was to reconnect with family, friends, and faith; areas he felt he had neglected due to his career. You may think he's a nutjob, but who are we to judge

He's a certified nut job. Plain and simple. However, nut jobs can help win you a Stanley Cup. This is why I'm hoping Kassian turns out to be our resident nut job. Lawlz.

He wanted to spend the last days of earth's existence with his family and friends. Yet you are saying he doesn't give a damn about his family and sat out for himself. How much of a nutjob he is or isn't doesnt really matter.

I really don't care about Thomas or kiprusoff, but lets try to be a bit more consistent with judgement. Otherwise we're no better than shanaban.

The ironing in this thread is delicious

He bailed on his teammates which are like brothers and bailed out on his contract. I just think thats dirty business and unfair for his team since they could of received a player for him when he was traded. Very selfish in a way even tho it's so he can spend time with his family and deal with his hate towards Obama

Oh the ironing....what do you think Kipper will be doing by retiring before his contract comes to end?...moreover, there is lots of speculation that he will go and play in Finland next year...

Retiring when you are a UFA is bailing on your team?.. Let alone a 29th place team with no hope in sight?

Chicago Blackhawks became the first team in the NHL to clinch a playoff spot.

his contract it up, he can do what ever he wants. The key is his contract it up in this situation. This is the last year of it so how is he bailing on the Flames?

wrong. kipper has one more year, where his cap hit is 5.8mil while his salary is 1.5mil which makes it probably even more of a factor to retire because he's paid most of his contract anyways.

68style 04-07-2013 08:15 PM

Man some of you guys are a bunch of pricks... the guy's got a premature born baby in Calgary... would you want to go relocate to Toronto while your baby's in a damn incubator?

He asked Jay Feaster to please not move him and Jay Feaster said he wouldn't out of respect for what Kipper's done for the Flames organization. End of story, he's not even slightly being a selfish prick...

Mike Oxbig 04-07-2013 08:17 PM

Calgary fans should blame the GM for not starting the rebuild sooner.

Not really racist! 04-07-2013 08:33 PM

Does not have a ntc in contract, but refuses to report to a team he could be traded to, results in shafting his current team and brothers during a rebuild. Sure he's still playing for the flames, but I'm sure feaster would rather he gone and have a future asset in return, even if is just a low round draft pick.

Oh, were you talking about Thomas? :fullofwin:

It's fine, we all know Thomas is a bit loopy and none of us like the Bruins.

Players are all human as well at the end of the day. None of us know their personal lives and circumstances. So let's not let our dislike of the way a player plays/acts or the team they play for cause us to judge them as human beings, as I said earlier, who are we to judge.

nah 04-07-2013 08:55 PM

family first, work second...

kipper's situation is no different.

...contract is not up....

I have no problem with him retiring after this year, but his RETIREMENT would unlikely have anything to do with his baby being born prematurely....his request to not be traded may, but his decision to retire would not...

And the only reason why I'm responding to this retirement shit is because people's argument for him retiring is that he's a UFA and he can do whatever he wants which is simply not true....now I know whoever said that is just going to come back with another reason why him retiring is absolutely reasonable whereas Thomas' decision to do so is not....

I always thought he was was UFA at the end of the season, if he's almost just as bad as Thomas. But not as crazy
