The first time I went down on a scooter, my knees were hit hard. I thought they were scraped off or whatever but it was just impact and road burn with no skin breakage. I got textile pants with knee armour for $110 or something, doesn't need to be expensive. But textile is damn hot above 30C so I am looking for a decent stylish pair of riding jeans or chinos before the summer. |

I spent around $1300 on my gear and feel like it's worth every penny. I read this quote somewhere before.. "If you were given a chance to spend any amount of money on gear the minute before you crash, what gear would you buy and how much would you spend? Now take that amount and buy your gear with it." |

Although DOT is the only requirement in Canada, DOT ratings aren't formally regulated -- just manufactured to a checklist. You want a helmet that has both DOT (for legality) and ECE 22.05. |
Boy do I want this! Why didn't I find this in 2014 when I was buying a tank??? So hot! Triumph Daytona 675 Carbon Fiber Parts |

But just like how cars were built, all those cars out there meet the 5* safety standard and these manufactures promote that is what they reach.... but there are more premium manufactures like Mercedes/BMW that exceed the expectations. and when shit is about to go down, lets be honest we all want to be in the safer and far superior product...... |
I got body slammed off the bike when I had my crash years back, thank god I was wearing my spine protector (It was an Icon protector for $110 at the time) A piece of gear to also consider. |

Might need to re-think my next helmet purchase. Provided I can find one that'll fit my head shape. |
So how do I find information on which helmets have these higher crash standards? |
Snell Foundation - Motorcycle Helmet Standard Comparisons comparison of Snell M2005, DOT and Euro ratings. |

Might be wrong on this. Too lazy to fact check. Both are endorsed by professional racing leagues so I would probably rate Snell and ECE on the same level. Quote:

The budget priced HJC CL-17 is SNELL rated although I think to M2005 or M2010. It's popular among autocrossers. |
If you're looking at Snell rated helmets (but I'd make sure it has DOT too, for legality and insurance reasons) make note that there's 3 different types. SA20xx is for car racing, S20xx is for karting, and M20xx is for motorcycling. Personally I'd never cross uses for one since the testing is supposed to be quite different. Quote:

Interesting. Luckily I don't autocross. Lol. |
So I am looking for a first bike, I'm 6'3 and 220lbs. 4K budget For insurance purposes I've decided to go no bigger than a 400cc. Right now I have 2 options on hand; 2015 CBR300RA - <1k kms practically new. Selling for 4000 2011 Ninja 400R - 14k kms. Selling for 4000 aswell. Does 14k km sound like a lot on a motorcycle? Pros and cons on each? I know CBR is susposed to be underpowered vs ninja 300 or R3. Ninja 400 was a limited production and only one or two markets so aftermarket is limited. Opinions? |
Honda has 2015 CBR300Rs $1300 off right now FYI. Call Burnaby Centre right now and see if they have any left. Kelowna Honda has a couple of CBR300R w/ ABS for like $4305 all fees in plus tax. 0km, full warranty. |
Id just get whatever is cheaper because honestly they're all underpowered :troll: but for reals, you prob be on a 600 within the season. |

This the one you referring to? I'm interested as well but when he stated, takes a couple minutes to warm up. hmm... If it isn't, I agree with the poster above..buy a 600, and I'll pick up the 400! :) I say you should go for the ninja400. More kick. |

Will call carter tmw to ask. Wonder how the CBR300R will fit me. I sat on a Ninja 400R and it was a pretty nice fit, seemed like just the right size for me. I dont like the slipper clutch of the Ninja 300R and the R3 is just out of budget right now for a first bike. Power wise i dont really care yet cause it will be my first bike and im just putting around town for now not even really any highways. Im thinking CBR300R will depreciate more than the Ninja 400R at this point as the ninjas been out for 5 years now and theyve been floating around 4k. CBR's brand new go for 4k so when i resell ill be taking at least a 1k hit down to 3k probably. |
