But if you hate someone and have their number, create a rental ad with an attractive price, post their number and mention to call or text only. :toot:

We useto put each other's phone numbers on April fools, or heck, just a random weekday in highschool.
For really cheap cars - sex services on CL - etc. But your right, a cheap rental will probably be just as good.

I remember one time my buddies posted my Z4 for 3000$ on CL with my number. (It was for sale on my behalf for 10k I think).
Spoiler!

Took like 50 minutes to go 12 km at 8pm on a Friday night..

I mean you're trying to do transportation by car in the highest density area in Toronto that is also surrounded by massive tourist attractions, TWO stadiums, like 50 condo towers that are probably 50-60 floors high on average, hundreds of offices (PwC, RBC, Telus are a few that are close by to that area with thousands of workers), and the highway into/out of downtown.

8:00 PM Friday is like prime going out time and there are probably hundreds of Ubers in that area at that time.

Even wayyyy further out like Yonge/Eglinton or Yonge/Sheppard probably has similar if not more foot and car traffic than downtown Vancouver most times.

It's so dense at rush hour that Rogers cell service doesn't even work at Union Station during evening rush hour

Before the pandemic, my Fido phone worked in the Canada Line underground... but now it doesn't work anymore in the evening when I come home... just in the morning... I guess I'm getting second tier service not being Rogers Rogers....

Corporations are quietly lobbying for more cheap labour... and these corporations are the ones putting our politicians in power.

That tracks with the TFW discussion on the other thread.

Telus is more than happy to cut as many jobs as humanly possible to replace the 1 Canadian worker with the 4 Indian guys sharing a double bed.

Companies like Telus are the worst offenders of these scenarios because they pass it off as not their issue. They will contract out work to the one guy who then hires 4 TFW under his “company” promises them the ability to make X amount and locks them into an employment contract. Then once they realize they will never earn what they were promised they end up making less than minimum wage and Telus sees golden dollar signs rolling in

68style 08-04-2023 08:08 AM

Ugh, so glad I passed on an interview for Telus like 5 years ago... heard enough about the culture there to nope the eff out.

Hondaracer 08-04-2023 08:23 AM

Garbage company with its workers backed by a somehow even more garbage union..

bcrdukes 08-04-2023 08:26 AM

There are a lot of macro economic factors contributing to the layoffs at Telus, namely the current market and financial landscape, and recent M&A transactions.

The contracting you speak of is Darren Entwhistle's goal from the board of crushing the labour union. He was hired for that sole reason, what, 20 years ago? (No offense to anyone in that union.)

Hondaracer 08-04-2023 08:32 AM

I get the “macro economics” but they made 3-4 years of record setting profits and subscriptions, a quarterly blip is hardly a reason to cut a workforce in half. Telus isn’t a Canadian company. Not when 90% of your workforce is overseas.

I was in the union and it only reinforced my opinions on unions.

The union backtracked last minute to have the workers vote on the deal when they had been attempting to get a strike after almost 2 years of negotiations. The executive committee met with Telus last minute behind closed doors without the representatives from the workers and suggested we take a deal when up to that very moment we had been told we should strike

I told the Dumb bitch Donna Hokiro who was the head of the union, on a conference call
With 200+ people that this decision would be the end of the union and her and another ducking knob were like “well we don’t see it that way”

Fast forward literally FOUR months and the ducking unionized workforce was cut in half lololol it didn’t even take a year to play out exactly as I said.

I don’t blame Telus, Entwistle and co played it masterfully, it was completely the ineptitude of the union over the last 2 contracts that led to the demise.

underscore 08-04-2023 08:39 AM

Telus has always been super scummy towards their customers, I always figured they're the same internally.

68style 08-04-2023 08:45 AM

And yet somehow Bell is even worse.... the worst!! It's such nonsense that Bell runs so many mental health campaigns. Even being a customer of theirs is bad for mental health let alone working there.

bcrdukes 08-04-2023 09:23 AM

How can you guys hate Telus? They have the best marketing campaigns and customer service.

Badhobz 08-04-2023 09:28 AM

I was gonna register Telus for the new place. I can’t decide between Telus or shaw/Rogers.
Telus is like 30 bucks cheaper a months and I think they can throw in a free tv or something.

Shaw is jack shit for promos and I still got a year left on the contract. So breaking that contract will cost me 500 clams.

They stole that shit from ClearNET when they bought them out!!

We moved to our new place last week and moved my telus services over. Was hoping i wouldnt get a outside contractor. Instead i got a lovely lady who was at my house for 5 hours the first day to get fiber into house and connected. Unfortunately it was a backend issue where we couldnt get it working but then she came back next day to spend another hour fixing it.
She told my wife who was at home it was her last day on the job as she for laid off. She was so kind and dedicated to get our telus services working. I felt sorry if thats the type of worker telus are laying of who are they hirinf to replace her.. Boggles my mind
