Looks like my friend's cabinet when I first found it. The Telus guy mounted the modem/router onto the cabinet in such a manner that the door would no longer fit.

Unfortunately I didn't take a photo of the end result with the door cover removed, but I had all the cables from the rooms terminate into a patch panel (converted some telephone ports into RJ45 ports as well), then routed cables from the patch panel to the switch. I learned to do the terminations as I went so I can't gauge whether my job was good or not, but all the cables work and the cabinet no longer looks like a rats nest. It's not hard to do on your own if your current setup becomes too big of an eyesore.

For now though if you haven't already, you should label each of those cables so that it doesn't become a headache in the future.

Kinda laugh at the idea of all land lords being this evil entity. If the govt. ever put total authority on rent control I just simply wouldn’t rent my suite out anymore. And I think that goes for a lot of people who have second properties or basement suites.

I never take into account my mortgage interest increase in my decisions but as numerous articles have laid out, the costs of simply having these rental units has gone up 20-35% in maintenance, taxes, upkeep, etc. yet the govt. caps rent increases at 2%? And gives the tenant all the power?

Find a major city in North America where you can live comfortably making less than 40 grand. It’s obviously a huge issue but unless the landlord is some faceless globo corp, it’s not their fault you’re in this situation, it’s govt. at every level. Previous tenants stopped paying rent in July, and just left this week on their own, after manager filed for eviction.

I stopped at a good job that needs an education at less than 40k a year. Minimum wage is 34k a year already and most admin jobs would pay you 40k a year. You can go work as a cashier at Save ons and probably make 40k. It's not a rich life but I don't believe minimum wage is meant for one to live on in a big city.

I wonder if she means high school education by edumacation. I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for her.

20 years ago, the lowest job you could get in the federal government was like CR-03/CR-04 data entry work and that was $43,000 a year... 20 years ago!!

Those same positions pay a bit under $60k now I think.

Any mofo can go to jobs.gc.ca and apply for a CR-04 rinky dink position at the fed gov and make $55k give or take if they even have half a brain and bring their own bib to catch drool. Saying you can only make $40k here is the result of numerous excuses not a factual statement.

I'm not necessarily commenting on the girl in the video. But I will say that in general there are a lot of people who, for whatever reason, can't work a job that pays more than minimum wage or slightly higher. Everyone has different life circumstances, and not everyone is born into a family that financially supports them from cradle to grave. Or maybe they have disabilities, etc etc.

Right now, that segment of society is being left out in the cold. The higher cost of housing in our cities is hurting a lot of people while salaries/support payments aren't even close to keeping up.

There are lots of people you can point a finger at and say "work harder" but let's also remember that not everyone has that option.
