To many people start renting out places without knowing the rules.

That doesn't change the fact that many families still have mortgages, and if their rates are going up (expenses), one would think they could raise the rate of the product they are selling (rental housing).
I don't see how it's having it both ways? The landlord like all business owners take all the risk, they should get all the reward. That's how a capitalistic society works. The government is essentially making landlords subsidize renters by capping rental rates.
The rental rates should go up with CPI inflation rates, not some arbitrary number a small number of people make up.

There are stipulations to capitalism in canada and this happens to be one of those things. GP rents on commercial spaces have gone up and they don't get to abide by supply and demand either.

House right next to the skytrain.. Apparently the builder is super motivated as the carrying costs are high for them..
It's literally next to a skytrain though. This price for a move in detached in Vancouver might be the best deal in the city. I wonder how bad it is when the trains come by.

I wouldn't pay $1,000,000 for that house and live underneath a Skytrain guide rail.
Not only that, but it is feet away from a rectifier station for the Skytrain |

An ex used to live in the townhouses right next to the Joyce Skytrain station, and it is LOUD. Esp at the 3rd floor where you are more or less level with the track, you hear every noise that the Skytrain makes.

Not only that, but it is feet away from a rectifier station for the Skytrain | Actually that particular rectifier station is to power the trolley wires for buses
Tons of them scattered though Vancouver in different shapes and sizes. https://maps.app.goo.gl/2VQnkQyuV4YYxm3b9
This one is on Joyce
80 Central Blvd https://maps.app.goo.gl/vkgndLAvbWExpRz78
This one is by Metrotown to power the trolley wires in the Burnaby area.
288 E 33rd Ave https://maps.app.goo.gl/K6QDaEMhYn6bkd598
Another one along 33rd ave

Might be a decent investment long term given that people seem increasingly concerned with the noise level of the train

This is a cool looking house. Not sure if I would want to be that close to the PNE though... $3M for this in our city seems like a fair price.

However, if they only used the blue skytrains aka new ones. It's somehow quiet.

I’m sure it’s still not as bad as living underneath the flight path to YVR. My buddy lives in one of those low rise condos next to the Walmart and planes go over his apartment every 5 minutes. I’m like how the fuck do you live ?! It’s 24:7 too. At least skytrain stops at like 3am or something.

The ground shook when they flew over because it was basically final approach they were super low, I could only imagine what it was like in those appartment lol

Does that area of Van (north of PNE) still smell of rotting chicken in the summer though? I had a friend that used to rent in that area and it was not pleasant...

Still smells from time to time, depends where you are
We live almost right in line with it although we are in a block off the east/west streets, I never smell it sitting on my porch etc, not once.
But sometimes when I’m walking over by say, nanaimo and adanac, definitely get that whif of death.
In regards to that house above, Trinity and that most of that side north of McGill is super nice and I’d prefer to he there over many other areas in east van, the issue is it becomes a bit far for walking with groceries, booze etc you’re kinda forced to drive for most things

When there’s fog occasionally but again, it’s nothing that I ever thought about or was bothered by.
Sleeping we have an air purifier going and the hum of that alone drains out almost any sound.
Will say, on most clear days though the 9 o’clock gun definitely shakes our house lol

That area is still kinda ghetto considering how many trucks cars go through it daily on McGill. Also you have all the events from pne bringing in the randoms + noise.

They had "Fuck YVR" spelled out on the roof large enough you could see it on Google maps, and I saw it out the window on a flight landing at YVR as well. I wonder if you can get previous years Google maps data, as they built an Office/business park on that location now.

It was up from 2008 to 2014. House was torn down in 2019.
Wonder if someone made them take it down, lol.

The average selling price for a detached home in Greater Vancouver decreased by 7.6% last month, the biggest decrease since February 2019.
Which meant that it went for *only* $2.2 million.
