That's an awesome dream garage setup and I'm excited for you! I'm sure the previous owner is relieved the home is going to another car enthusiast :)

SSM_DC5 08-28-2024 09:37 PM

Can you do flooring after you're done lighting?

JDMDreams 08-28-2024 09:40 PM

Are you even in the city? Or some where in the outskirts? Calgary houses I've seen doesn't have garages, lots that big. Most is a double attached in the front with 2 car driveway or tiny detached single in the back with parking pad.

Gumby 08-28-2024 10:06 PM

We will need updated pics of the garage after you have moved in!

68style 08-28-2024 11:01 PM

House is in Hawkswood neighbourhood, so its right across from Crowfoot Crossing... definitely Calgary proper. 19 minutes drive to the centre of downtown according to google maps.

It's a really big pie shaped lot and from what I gather in Calgary as long as structures only cover 55% of the land you're in the clear.

The listing actually said the shop has an epoxy floor... I can't really see that in the pics and I haven't seen the place in person yet, but I guess it might be just a plain grey one. Ill definitely look into one of those speckled ones.

I’m happy and sad at the same time. This is like shawshank redemption when 69style dufrane busted out of Vancouver and I’m fat Morgan freeman whos been institutionalized by Vancouver.

Funny ... this was the first thing that came to mind.

RS group trip to Calgary in 2025 for DIY dent removal and full detail.

Am sitting at the YYC right now after a few days in Cow Town and can definitely appreciate how much better and consistent the weather is in Vancouver

So basically an attached 2 car garage and a detached 3 car shop. Total unicorn of a house situation. I’m super excited to finally be able to do real car projects for the first time in my own space!

that's some awesome garage space. I'm assuming it's coming with the car lift?

I'm looking for a new house and a major must is a good decent 2 car garage

68style 08-29-2024 10:43 AM

Actually buddy is taking the lift with him apparently... if you look close at the photos it isn't bolted into the floor. I don't mind to be honest, I feel like the lift should be in the 3 car shop, not the front garage... and I want a 2 post not a 4 post, can't do any wheel or brake or suspension work on that thing.

There should be lifters in the channel so you can lift the car off the platform after it's driven on. Unless it's an option box that wasn't checked.

That's cool you are walking distance to the shoppng mall. It's rare to find a walkable suburb in Alberta that doesn't require taking a car everytime you leave the house. But in the summer you can walk to the mall, have drinks and dinner and walk home, which is rare in AB.

is the one by the house maybe insulated and has a gas heater? if so then that would probably be why he didn't put the lift in the other one

68style 08-29-2024 12:59 PM

Weirdly enough the separated shop with the Mustang in it is the one with a gas heater

Holy shit dude! That is freaking awesome.

I'm so happy that not only you'll keep the Mustang, but it's going to be warm and comfy too!

hud 91gt 08-29-2024 05:11 PM

Yup. Don’t need to see the rest of the house. Great buy. lol!

westopher 08-29-2024 09:50 PM

Calgary is dope, but I wish it could have the vibe of edmonton with the geography of Calgary.
Congrats on having the dream garage.

Badhobz 08-30-2024 07:02 AM

What did you say about our beloved Edmonton ?!?!? That’s where I learned my Engrish and racism…. Dem catholic nuns are great at both

westopher 08-30-2024 09:17 AM

Edmonton is awesome and probably the only place in Alberta that isn't a pit of racism and homophobia. It wasn't like that when I left though lol.

Yes, this was KEY for me... I realize walking around half the year in Calgary is unrealistic weather wise, but I tried so hard to find a place that was walking distance to stuff... the American suburban style life of getting in a car constantly to drive to stripmalls for everything depresses me so much.

My current place in Richmond I'm about 20 minutes walk to the Canada Line... and this place in Hawkwood I'm about 20 minutes walk to the C-Train station and much shorter to the grocery stores etc. Super pumped about that. Even the local library is a hop and skip across a big street.

^^ there's also a few Muslim mosques in your hood to help with diversity :ifyouknow: so the donairs better be banging
