Depending on which city you are in, you are allowed to raise some animals too. You can have infinite free eggs, chicken, duck, I believe there's a house in New West with a cow in the back :fulloffuck: but can't say no to infinite supply of bbq duck :accepted: you gotta live like a true Asian. Level up from just back yard China farm.

GLOW 11-04-2024 12:18 PM

i'm surprised vancouver allows this.
in my area in E.van there's a few homes with chickens and the owner gets a steady supply of fresh eggs

I got an offer on my condo today, it had the strangest clause something I’ve never even seen before.

The buyer wrote in that they want their buying agent paid more than the standard buyers agent rate??? The fuck? Why? Amounts to like $2k extra out of pocket to their agent if agreed to.

Buying agent doesn’t have to do fuck all for work why would a buyer agree to make that part of an offer??? I mean assuming a seller agrees to that it means the buyer could have gotten another $2k off on this case? Mental.

Counter offer: Add $2k to the sale price and agree to giving the buyer's agent extra $2k

I'd love to do this but they seriously lowballed... reading too many reddit threads saying to offer as low as you want because condos supposedly aren't selling I guess

JDMDreams 11-04-2024 03:07 PM

Well how hurting for cash are you?

underscore 11-05-2024 08:52 AM

That sounds like some kinda funky way to launder money or hide a payment to the agent for something else.

JDMDreams 11-05-2024 09:41 AM

You can also demand bj from China realtor like bad hobz:considered:

Rebate in place and their agent probably looking for you to cover the difference.

68style 11-05-2024 12:11 PM

Accepted a counter offer... but honestly I doubt they'll stick around after they get the strata docs since the building will be going through an assessment sometime in the next year

JDMDreams 11-05-2024 01:20 PM

What the shit is this, something I would build in the Sims, I guess I can use it as a fish pond.

Just went to our catchment school to register my son for school and was talking to the secretary there.

Super chatty Cathy. Anyway, she told me that she's retiring next year after 36 years of working for the VSB. She has a house that she's considering selling, but she wants to see if her pension and her husband's pension will be able to fund their lifestyle, they want to travel a lot. Her husband is retiring next week and she's retiring next June. She said she gets close to nine weeks vacation and gets paid out if she doesn't use it.

It's just the thought of someone today being able to get a job, accumulate that much vacation, get a pension/benefit, buy a house, have it paid off, and then have the opportunity to sell it for close to $2M to fund their retirement is pretty much impossible these days.

JDMDreams 11-05-2024 03:25 PM

Yea they should have bought re before they were born. Your parents should have bought you a house. So you should start buying a place for your son.

Now that I see the state of real estate, I have changed my thesis on buying my son a house. I don't think it makes sense to buy a house now and give it to my son later.

It makes more sense to be in the equity markets and let those positions grow. Once he needs a place in 30 years I'll just sell stock to help him with a big down payment or buy him something at that point.

I guess time will tell if that's the right move or not.

Ignoring what happened between 2019-2022, sticking your money in the S&P since ~20 years ago has still yielded a MUCH better return than a house in Vancouver.
