It's a "(golf) resort community". I think a lot of it is Vacation/retiree/secondary property. I only knew one person who owned a property there and it was his second house for when he was in the Victoria area. I suppose it would be allright if you didn't have to commute anywhere, but if you had to get into the Colwood Crawl everyday, fuck that. It had a pretty turbulent past with all sorts of lawsuits. I believe that the companies that own and operate it are currently under receivership. |

How is your house only 3xxx sq if the lot is over 9000. It doesn't look like a 9000 sq lot |

Not to mention their parents house also sitting at $1.8's fully paid off. Sell both and they'll have $2M in equity to toss around for a SFH in Van. |
Wtf, burial plots are 40k+? You gotta be some uber elite to be spending 40k just for a plot, or have have very poor financial life decisions Cook me up, throw me into the ocean, good to go. 39k saved not including the rest of the bullshit Or if your against it, throw me into the back of a uhaul, drive out to merrit, and pick your spot for free |
^^ yep $40k is like flat land, if you want like the private garden + little gate it's like $100k plus. The head stone is like $10k even an urn is $500. Big bidness |
I just want my remains to be spread somewhere beautiful. I do not wish to be cremated. |
better yet, have no one claim your body government takes care of it :troll: |
Wow, this talk about burial plots is fitting in the real estate thread. It also shows the aging demographics of RS users! |

I know a couple people who won't talk about or even get any form of life insurance because talking about it "makes it real." |

my grandpa bought them for 8k each.. mauybe for then it felt like 40k. it ain't cheap. I don't know if ANYONE here even thought of buying one. Please enlighten us. I did go in for a job interview and it's a business to be had. I see 50/ 60 yr old maybe getting into the business and making money, but seeing it as less of a trend. HECK, i can't even get anyone to go eat at family dinners... let alone visiting my grandpa at Burnaby to pay him respects. Is it a dying business.. no pun intended. |

In reality I told my wife just do whatever's cheapest. |
We actually just laid my dad to rest a few months ago. Pine casket, cremation and urn burial into his plot service. Was over $10k. We chose the cheapest package as that was his wish. The plots my parents have, they bought it like 10 yrs ago out in S. Surrey, the site I believe is popular with Catholic Asians, was about $4k each. In retrospect, they looked at the Fraser view Cemetery where my grandparents are buried and it was roughly $20k a plot. This isn't a cheap service to pay for, they'll even charge you to view the body 1 last time by the hour. Ask if you want embalment for cremation (we declined as the body is kept in freezer anyways) etc. Plots are expensive, of course, it's a piece of land your laying in however, the upside is you can finance it which my parents did. |
