Funny enough, I had the time of my life in Osaka. There's so much more life to Osaka than Tokyo. In Tokyo, everyone seems dead inside. I went out with a Thai chick there (yes, I checked) and that was an incredibly cheap night. $40 for dinner, $36 for drinks, $Unknown for transit.

I saw a lot more fat people (or people that look like me) in the Osaka and surrounding areas tho.

If you and the wife like to sing, The Drunken Clam in Dotonbori is an incredible place. Family guy themed, cheap, and best of all no pressure to buy drinks to sing. I had my best nights there singing with a bunch of geezers from Ontario lol.

I agree that the opportunity for success is better there given the talent pool, manufacturing resources, and logistical efficiency, but there's also a mega-ton of competition and potential overhead costs (not commonly found in the West) that might hold you back from making it big.

Lease costs are significantly lower and same with wages. Starting capital and risk of losing everything is way lower than Vancouver. Appliances, equipment, and repairs are gonna be way lower. Revenue will be lower too, but I'd take lower profits over risking $50-100K/month overhead any day.

Retail lease in Vancouver with some employees is over $50K/month. If sales slump, you're bleeding $300-500K a year on a small store :badpokerface:
