All I want is .net or visual c application layer so we can run basic desktop programs on the ARM platform. That or full fledged JavaVM.:okay: |

I can't decide which one would be a better investment. Gah decisions |
just to note the 32gb Surface tab is sold out (pre-orders) in canada & us |
Wow... surprised it got sold out. |
^^ apparently the US ones sold out within a few hours (couple days for Canada) 2 commercials edit all sold out now in the US with a 3 week backorder |
what's the black touch cover thing that cost extra $100? is that the same thing as the white touch cover that u can get as an addon? |
I am not sure if I will ever get a tablet again. I have the ipad2 for a week or so didn't like it so refund. Got the ipad3 in March this year just sold it 2 days again. Though I would use it to see if I really like it but is just not for me. The functions is too limited on a tablet and also the screen isn't big enough. It might work for some people but not for me. I rather use a laptop. |

^^ I would actually wait till it comes out and try it out first before making any comments. Sure there are reviews out there but still very different when using it. Unless I can hook it to a bigger monitior I am not quite sold on it yet. Coz with a laptop I can still some some games on it..... not sure how well games will run on it. There is still something a desktop/laptop can do a lot better than a tablet can unit that happens I don't think I will try a tablet. |

Let's hope is actually good. I am not saying is bad or anything but actual use is very different from reviews on paper. |

As a tablet it's inferior to the iPad 3. As a laptop it's inferior to countless options out there. I don't know how taking two sub-par products and combining them gives you a superior product. I've gone over Microsoft's developer site for RT and as I've said before, it's not easy to take an existing program and port it over to RT. New software designed for Metro can be compiled for both RT and x86 Windows, but that doesn't do anything to make it easy to get existing software working. People are going to be very confused and upset when they realize RT will not run any of your current Windows software, despite being branded as "Windows". Then again, it's not full Office and is missing a few features. One deal breaker for me (and work) is the lack of macros. So many corporate documents we use have macros which means Office RT is completely useless for us. Try Googling for Windows RT Apps and see what you come up with. I did and the lack of software available (or listed anywhere) for a tablet that's due out in a few days is scary. Unless everyone is under some non-disclosure agreement and can't announce until the 26th. But I doubt that - I think there's going to be a dearth of software for RT at launch. A piece of hardware, no matter how good it is on paper, is useless without software. |

Windows phone 7 does have over 50k in apps if you care about that type of stat. Windows Surface pro will have more apps than IOS and android combined on launch day. Tablet using AMD CPU's will also be able to run Android apps. |
Just installed Win8 Pro on my zenbook prime. It's pretty confusing lol. I'll say one thing. It's amazingly snappy and boots up faster than my win7 clean install. Using the UEFI mode with GPT partition. |

We'll find out in a few days, but I predict very few RT Apps and even fewer touch-enabled Apps. It's going to look pretty stupid to have Apps running on your tablet that still have File - Open and the usual familiar Windows menus. |
Better than Google maps? That I highly doubt. Guess I'll see when I use it some more. |

its used in like 90% of car navigation systems and offers more countries/services etc etc however google does excel over navteq in certain areas/countries (like the US and especially in campus mapping) etc check out one of my recent <3 nokia threads there's a maps comparison ;) here quoted it :) Spoiler! where google excels (campus map compare in the usa) Spoiler! |
Hmm I coulda swore at one point Google also used some mapdata from Navteq and Teleatlas. Guess this has changed over the years. |

Reviews for the Surface RT And the Asus Vivitab RT are Up. AnandTech - Microsoft Surface Review http://www.anandtech.com/show/6387/a...otab-rt-review |
Surface RT looks damn sleek. At the moment, I can't tell if one of those new ASUS ultrabooks is a better investment than the Windows 8 Surface Pro. What are your guys' opinions on this? According to Engadget (which I feel has some bias towards Apple) said good things about the Surface, especially how the touch cover is responsive in regards to accurate typing. With that being said, maybe a W8 pro tablet is justified as a purchase rather than an ultrabook. |
Surface pro will not be out till January. it's basically a Ultrabook with a touch screen and a removable keyboard. Looks like the Asus dual screen laptop is real. ASUS TAICHI 21 11.6" Touchscreen Ultrabook featuring 3rd Gen Intel Core i5-3317U Processor - Black : Ultrabooks - Best Buy Canada |
