Nope it's identical. In fact I had to change it to Canada to get it work with my XBOX Live account.

Pokki start menu for Windows 8

https://www.pokki.com/ :fullofwin:

StylinRed 10-29-2012 12:27 AM

that's neat, i knew there would be an app or a mod registry entry etc something that would bring the old look back

and it just seemed crazy that the people dissing windows8 couldn't imagine that

SkinnyPupp 10-29-2012 01:01 AM

This one is more like regular Windows: Welcome to Classic Shell

SkinnyPupp 10-29-2012 02:03 AM

Amazed at how unstable most of the Windows 8 apps are. EVERYTHING I have used has crashed at least once. Store, Music, News, EVERYTHING.

StylinRed 10-29-2012 04:59 AM

yeah ive had a few app crashes too think it has to do with msft holding the sdk off for the longest

SkinnyPupp 10-29-2012 05:03 AM

I think it might have to do with the login system.. Their servers are probably under heavy load, and my internet connection is pretty horrible. Hate that it has to log in to listen to my music :\

StylinRed 10-29-2012 08:11 AM

can anyone find the Hulu Plus app? its supposed to be in the store but i can't search for it
perhaps its US Only?

but im running a US DNS :/ i can use the browser hulu but it would be nice to have the app too

SkinnyPupp 10-29-2012 08:12 AM

Set your location in the settings to USA. That's what the store is based on, not IP

What do you mean you have to log in to listen to your music? Does your computer have to be accessible to the internet before you can run media files?

StylinRed 10-29-2012 08:36 AM

thanks! that did the trick! now to check out apps from asia the uk and the states lol

not media files lomac but online services think skinny meant xbox music store etc

SkinnyPupp 10-29-2012 09:05 AM

Yeah when you start the music app, it attempts to load "XBOX Music". You can't do anything until that is complete, and if the login fucks up the program crashes

way2quik 10-29-2012 05:10 PM

I installed W8 and there were no app conflicts whatsoever. No USB3.0 driver issues nor MSE (it's still installed and running as I type).

AzNightmare 10-29-2012 05:28 PM

well this is stupid.
Anyone else having problems saving (or finding the option to save) the ISO file??

SkinnyPupp 10-29-2012 05:30 PM

I am having issues where my Wifi connection drops randomly. Will have to swap it out for an old one

dasani604 10-29-2012 09:23 PM

Went to the Microsoft Store in Metrotown today and played with the Surface. Fully-touch screen, that flipping case keyboard...holy :sweetjesus:

lol same here (and that frightens me) and that's obviously what MSFT is counting on ;) and likely why the new google Nexus phone is so cheap

if they have a couple more quarters like they've had so far they may as well close up shop though

I don't mind so much. I used Windows Phone MUCH longer than I ever used Android... I used Windows Phone before there was even a phone on it :fuckthatshit: then all the way up to the post-iphone era, before switching to Android when they couldn't get their shit together.

I'm not a 'fan' of anything so i will use whatever appeals to me. I will be getting a hand-me-down Galaxy Nexus this week I think, so my opinion may be refreshed after using this single core HTC for 2 years now

BTW I just had to look up on google how to reboot Windows 8

The steps:

1) Hover at the bottom or top right corner
2) Move the mouse up or down, but not left or right. This opens the right side panel
3) click "Settings"
4) click "Power"
5) click "restart"

That's a fuck of a lot of steps to restart the PC :seriously:

^alt-f4 on the desktop.

Figured out the firewall. Was staring me in the face. Doh.

SkinnyPupp 10-30-2012 01:51 AM

All these obscure keyboard shortcuts don't make sense either. For instance every native app supports the search function, but to get there you have to do the same mouse wizardry, then click search.. or you can press windows+c and then click. Why not make is windows+f if it's going to be universal anyway?
