I'm not a 'fan' of anything so i will use whatever appeals to me. I will be getting a hand-me-down Galaxy Nexus this week I think, so my opinion may be refreshed after using this single core HTC for 2 years now

believe it or not im actually not exclusive to symbian :lol i like android as well but im just so used to using symbian so if there's a fitting symbian phone ill go for it instead i was actually going to switch to droid before the 808pureview came out ;)

i dont mind ios i couldnt use it exclusively though WP7/7.5 however i just hated how the tiles looked i could never imagine me using it then wp8 had me thinking "meh still pretty bad" but after using windows 8 i could see myself using a windows phone the tiles dont bother me anymore

may even get the new nexus phone its such a good price shame there's no expansion slot though

SkinnyPupp 10-30-2012 04:42 AM

I'd be getting nothing if I had to pay for it :lawl:

Wifi problems:

Intel 6205 (Wifi-N, PCI-E) would disconnect from router randomly, and unable to reconnect unless I reboot

Asus WL-130N (Wifi-N, PCI) seems to not work well with something else in my system, as I would get crashes while watching video or listening to audio

Trying an MSI MS3871 now. It is USB based :heckno:

SkinnyPupp 10-30-2012 08:00 AM

This USB thing is capped at 2 Mbps... so fuck that shit

I read that disabling C1E can help, and I also disabled GPU acceleration on my video player. Let's see if either of those help.

SkinnyPupp 10-30-2012 08:49 AM

That didn't work. Fuck.

Every time I get a BSOD, it's a different error..

IRQ_NOT_EQUAL

KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE

NTFS_WHATEVER_FUCK

I might do a fresh install tomorrow.

Hmm my laptop has no wifi problems. However it's one of the newer ones. N6230.

personally, I'd wait and try out the Pro version in person first..

anyway, was there any Surface in stock? thanks

There was and they were also selling quite well. All the demo Surfaces were always in use which is a good thing for Microsoft.

I agree with you, I would wait for the Pro as well. I've decided that it is a better investment. I suppose it depends on your budget.

I actually really like windows 8 now.

BUT i have a dual monitor setup so I have the start screen on right and desktop on left.

flagella 10-31-2012 06:15 PM

^the other way around for me.

I think I found the cause of my BSOD issues. It was the Gigabyte USB on/off charge driver.

Edit: Either that or the Dynamic Energy Saver app.. basically, don't install any utilities yet

I haven't used windows 8 yet, but I figured I might be doing the same once I do.
Having no option to move the charm bar location seems dumb.

And making the charm bar show up on the right side, which would then be the "center"
of a dual monitor set up seems like Microsoft didn't really think this through.

SiRV 10-31-2012 09:22 PM

just out of curiousity.... can you still use custom desktops/themes with windows 8? Anytime I see anything about windows 8, its just the same collage of colours

SkinnyPupp 10-31-2012 09:24 PM

That is the "Metro" side. The desktop is just like it ever was (only better). You don't even have to look at the Metro side if you don't want to. Install Classic Shell and you can ignore it completely.

way2quik 11-01-2012 05:47 AM

Now my USB 3.0 pci card stopped working after 1 day. Ugh.
After diagnosing, I'm beginning to wonder if it's the device that's crapping out and not a driver issue.

At first, I hoped the Metro UI could span across two monitors, but after a few days use, one monitor desktop the other Metro is acceptable. Microsoft's changes to the taskbar makes Ultramon useless unless the extra features is what you're after.

Definitely need more customizability in start screen. I mean is there any way to link that Music/Video tile to a folder you want? Or the only way is to move all your music files to the Music folder in Libraries.

You can make it so the Library loads from several locations.

Got this Odd issue whenever I boot or wake up the computer my touchpad will have a mind of its own as well as act like i've got 2 fingers on it for a few minutes and then it'll act perfectly from there

Im not sure if its a Win8 issue or what though :fulloffuck:

Ack, BSOD's recently regarding netio.sys. Seems to happen when I have lots of stuff going on - Citrix, BitTorrent, browsers and streaming audio.

Anyone else have this happen?

That's your network card. Update the drivers

Mr.HappySilp 11-06-2012 06:35 PM

Bought an
HP ENVY dv6-7250ca suppose to be in tmr comes with Win8. Going to play around with it for a bit. If I don't like Win8 I can always downgrade to Win7 but not sure if the drivers will work though.......

SkinnyPupp 11-06-2012 06:46 PM

Downgrading makes no sense. If you don't like Win8, that means you don't like the Metro interface. Since it's completely separate from the rest of the OS, all you have to do is not use it.

Mr.HappySilp 11-06-2012 07:52 PM

^^ Another reason is I am not 100% sure if all the software I use will run fine in Win8. I am sure it will but some of them is not legeal per say so don't want to install them Win8 and have issue.

-lincolnboi- 11-08-2012 09:03 PM

Anyone do the windows 8 accreditation on expert zone and receive a copy yet?

AzNightmare 11-11-2012 06:25 AM

I'm currently on XP 32 bit, and since my PC already got scanned, my installer keeps trying to install win8 32-bit.
Would I be able to fix this if I just d/l win8 64-bit onto my PC, and then activate it with my legit serial key?

Or should I install win7 64 bit, and then do the win8 upgrade process?

Mr.HappySilp 11-11-2012 03:41 PM

Some games on steam doesn't seem to work on win8 for example Metro 2033. i downloaded it on my new laptop and was going to test how the graphics is but I keep getting an error when installing. Is fine on Win7 though.
