^Yeah, Keurig has more selection, I'll give them that.

I use both machines on a daily basis, so it's pretty easy for me to compare. I have a coffee from the Tassimo at home in the morning, and I have a coffee on my break at work from the Keurig.

I try to buy a new type of K-cup every time I need a refill, and still I haven't found one that I actually really like. Not to say that it's bad. But in comparison to Tassimo, I find the T-disc coffee has more substance.

But again that's just me..

I have a Francis and Francis X7 illy pod machine. Good investment! Finally starte finding pods in Vancouver for it as it was only available in the U.S

I was Tassimo's product rep for a couple years so just a few more points on the Tassimo:

- removeable water jug with Brita filter
- self-cleaning mode

I'm not a huge coffee snob so I won't comment on the quality of the coffees but I absolutely love the Twinnings chai tea latte and the Suchard's hot chocolate.

rageguy 11-19-2012 08:56 AM

I have a Tassimo T20, and the machine was only $69+tax. I love their Twinnings Chai tea latte, and the Nabob latte. I've also tried the Kevalia dark Italian roast and it is very very bold. The Tim Horton's coffee tastes just like it, and so is their latte. Overall, the Tassimo is good for making a decent cup of latte.

The discs can be had for cheap if you know where to look for deals. There is a huge ongoing thread on RFD for T-Discs deal. For example, buy 2 get 1 free happens sometime, buy 3 get 1 free as well.

For those with the keurigs have you tried the Starbucks or the barista prima; there's some darker blends. There are also a lot of Van Houtte kcups

Hondaracer 11-20-2012 07:18 AM

I have that same quisineart it's awsome

IMO both tassimo and kieirg but especially tassimo should be banned, the hard plastic discs they use are like the most in biodegradable plastics u can get and burning up one per cup is crazy lol

Keurigs Vue machine has recyclable kcups. Google provided this info to me :p lol

I'm having the Starbucks at work and so far it's the only one I'm content with.
I tried all the Van Houttes and they all taste very bland to me.

so buying beans from sbux and using it withthe reuseable kcups is cheaper than buying those sbux cups for tasimo (or keurig as well?) ?? if it is indeed cheaper to buy their beans, i personally as a sbux fan would do that! not a fan of these machines but this single serve reuseable option with no water in the reservoir sounds like it has potential!

in the long run i would think so. but the OEM keurig filter costs $18 plus tax. so you'll need to figure out cost per ground up bag of coffee and how many it makes vs 50 cents per kcup.

i did that with a giant can of timmy hortons coffee i think it was $10? bloody thing lasted me a year but it lost it's freshness b/c it took so dam long for me to finish it :lawl:

no reservoir is the keurig mini (b30)

Anyone got the Tassimo T65? Planning on getting one during the sale this weekend.

FerrariEnzo 11-21-2012 04:42 AM

Im plan on getting the Keurig Mini, its $65 at staples...

This filter thing look awesome.. just pack your own grinded beans...

GLOW 11-21-2012 07:35 AM

ya usually i tap teh back with a teaspoon and most falls out, scrap a bit and rinse the rest out. $65 is not bad i think it was $90 when it first came out

punkwax 11-21-2012 08:14 AM

I have the Keurig, bought the filter hoping to save $ and use fresher beans.. Then wifey found starbucks k-cups at costco.. haven't seen the filter in months lol

I've tried them all, including the disgusting Cherry one that tastes like medicine.
Even their dark roast tasted very bland.
Right now I'm having a Starbucks French Roast at my work's Keurig, which is OK. But I still prefer the Tassimos

um for van heute we have columbian, this african dark roast, there's a few others i don't remember - to be honest my coworkers and i agree they all kinda taste the same. I usually like columbian roasts but go with the darkest ones here because it seems like there's the possibility that it would make it less mild, but it doesn't. Not a fan at all :-(

we also get a funky flavour every month, it's usualy by something called "Timothy's". I've tried blueberry, french vanilla, pumpkin spice, baileys and a few others. The problem with all of these is they smell great and just like what htey should be, but they just taste like chemicals and the same mild crap. They taste completely differently from what they smell like.

So based just on these two brands i'm not a fan of what i've tried

oldsnail 11-21-2012 09:57 PM

I have the nespresso, the cups are harder to get but it makes a fantastic cup of joe!

B!tch 11-21-2012 11:05 PM

Canadian Tire, Walmart and Homeoutfitters all have these machines on sale this weekend.

Graeme S 11-21-2012 11:39 PM

For those of you who've had or tried the Nespresso, I'm curious. Reviews online seem to emphasize the fact that its' an espresso machine as opposed to a coffee machine. How much does it actually put out, and how do you guys typically drink your coffee?

I'm a black coffee drinker which is why I worry about this, 'cause I don't want to spend hundreds and end up with shitty coffee-flavoured water.

FerrariEnzo 11-21-2012 11:51 PM

If the cups for the Nespresso are harder to find, I think the Tassimos are a more feasible option..

hmm.. whats the cheapest Tassimo machine? I like the Mini Keurig.. fits my budget and Im pretty much the only 1 drinking coffee.. I do have the reg drip machine.. its a pain though.. buying filters and throwing them out only for 1 cup...

Graeme S 11-21-2012 11:54 PM

Nespresso can be had at The Bay dt, and probably other places. And online. I'm cool with that, and with buying mass amounts at one time.

Oh, and how much are the pods here? They're about 50c a shot in the states, but what about here?

you usually can find the most basic tassimo for $69.99 i belive it's the T60 or 80 or something i forget which # (i got it when it was on sale at that price and see it on sale like that now all the time). I think they realize if you sell it for cheap they'll make their $ back on the damn discs since there are not filter pods that allows you to do your own coffee. from reading your posts, i'd probably steer you towards the mini/filter combo i had which allows you to do sb kcups on the go or your own ground coffee when you have time. single cup was really nice for me when i'm the only coffee drinker, and no resevoir so no stale water.

downside is that it will make a coffee of X volume (single cup). if you got a thermos and wanna fill 'er up for the entire day you're gonna be brewering a few cups worth to do that or diluting it by adding water after the fact.
