Looking to pick up a Tassimo, any good deals on them around during boxing week?
I know Staples has a T55 for $40 off

Akinari 12-27-2012 10:47 AM

Alright, so I've been using my Keurig B70 for about a week now. Is it just me, or is the coffee very watered down? Even if I use a dark italian roast cup with a small cup brew size selected, the coffee still tastes watered down  am I missing something here?

chin3se604 12-27-2012 01:00 PM

got the T65 for Christmas

anyone know how it compares to the T55 (newer) ? not much comparison videos or review out for it yet.

The T65 has more features LCD screen/ LED light /Innovative flow heater technology / bigger water tank

The T55 has the Pre-adjustable drink strength, but cant we do that with the T65, just by adding water?

you could. but i guess running it through the tassimo would run the water through the tdisc to catch as much of the flavour of the grinds as possible as opposed to straight water. not sure how much more flavour you will catch but when i add more water on some of my discs the water coming through is still black.

FerrariEnzo 12-27-2012 04:11 PM

anyone know which stores have sales on the TDisc?

Timbits93 12-27-2012 07:20 PM

Just ordered the T55 from BB in blue since its $89 (same as Staples) along with something else i needed there. Odd how BB prices the blue one cheaper than the black/red ones.

Still trying to decide what t-discs to get :fullofwin:

vafanculo 12-27-2012 07:45 PM

I didn't like the (forgot brand) cafe latte's, but timmies cafe latte is really good. Get timmies anything

Just bought the Tassimo T45 today at FS for $89
Really liking it so far, coffee has never been easier, had 2 cups, not sure if i'll be able to sleep tonight :okay:

So what are your guys favorite T-Discs? and which ones should I avoid, I'm sure there are not-so-great ones too

Sorry if this is a noob/ignorant question, but how are these machines better than say a normal coffee maker? Is it just the little discs that you get that makes them special? To me it just seems like these things are a massive cash grab..

Graeme S 12-27-2012 10:00 PM

They're not "better", they're just single-serve. Most people don't want to brew a single pot or grind a bunch of beans for coffee. Even a bodum can be a bunch of work. So these are single-shot coffees for those who occasionally want coffee and don't want hassle afterwards.

no filters you have to dump. no coffee grinds you need to put in..

its pretty much easy to clean up.. put in the little disc, press button and throw the little disc...

using the coffee is cheaper, just bit more work thats all.. plus the different flavours you can get...

Yuffa 12-27-2012 11:25 PM

The Tassimo Second Cup PARADISO is my favourite drip coffee. It is the most expensive but totally worth it. And drinking it out of a mug is also more tasty then drinking out of a stainless steel tumbler.

I'm pretty sure throwing away paper filters (which are biodegradeable) is better than PLASTIC discs & cups. I even use a reuseable nylon mesh filter in my drip machine.

I understand the convenience of these machines, but less wasteful they most definately are not.

TheKingdom2000 12-28-2012 04:33 AM

Anyone have information about getting a $0.20 deposit back from sending in old tdiscs?
My mom was told that you can send them back to tassimo, but in can't find any info on it.

It's a convenience thing. Just pop in a disc, push a button, and there's your cup of coffee. Just toss the used disc into the trash. No mess, no cleaning. I think it was more so the no mess/no cleaning part that sold me.

As opposed to grinding your coffee, putting it in a filter, waiting for the whole pot to finish when you're only having a cup, tossing the grinds and filter, wiping everything down. If you're using a reusable mesh filter, you gotta dump it out, rinse it, wipe it, put it back in. Same with french presses. Wait for water to boil, spoon in grounds, press, serve, dump, rinse, wipe.

I think he meant just a convenience thing again. I love my Tassimo, but like you said... it is definitely not less wasteful. I almost feel bad sometimes when I look in my trash and there's a whole mountain of used plastic discs.

From an less biased standpoint - Taste wise, nothing's better than fresh ground beans from a french press. I still use mine once in a blue moon, when I'm feeling fidgety on a weekend and feel like having a different cup of coffee.

Got a tassimo t46 in red for Xmas. So far it's pretty good. Portions are a little small though:(

FerrariEnzo 12-28-2012 08:44 AM

just got back from Home Outfitters..

they priced match Bestbuy/Futureshop sales..

Latte $6.99
Breakfast Blend $7.99
Espresso $6.99
cafe creama $6.99 - same price

so save about $7 before taxes.. just tried the Latte, no bad..
only got the ones that are sale to try out...

TheKingdom2000 12-28-2012 09:59 AM

Chai tea latte is way too sweet. I would advise against it if you don't have a super sweet tooth.

TheKingdom2000 12-28-2012 10:08 AM

I just found it. Didn't look hard enough before.
so it's not 20 cents and you don't even get to keep it.

A charity gets 2cents for every tdisc you send in. You need a min. of 150 tdiscs and you send it in via a prepaid shipping label.

More info here.
TASSIMO Brigade® | TerraCycle

I know most won't do this as collecting 150 tdiscs is a lot and will most likely get in the way.
Though, we have space under our sink next to our garbage so we just put a box there and started dumping our tdiscs into it.

Jason00S2000 12-28-2012 10:34 AM

I'm enjoying a finely brewed coffee at the moment, and soon I will relish in taking that java-motivated morning dump

Ahhhhhhh!

6thGear. 12-28-2012 12:17 PM

GF got me the Tassimo T20 for christmas with a TON on T-Disks(Local and online ones being shipped). Also picked up Gevalia dark roast on sale at Zellers. Majority are 50% off and had to double check the expiry dates but most expire by Feb/ Mar. Didn't bother with the Chai Latte's as they were still $8-9. So far I'm loving the machine as I tried my sisters Keurig and it's too watered down but maybe I'm biased as I only drink strong coffee
