I'm starting to agree with you on this.
Asian girl? Possibility of a sheltered life.

But when the facebook wall was still alive, a lady worked with Elisa during x-mas and said she had found a job on a farm in Cali.

Maybe diverted her plans to LA for a guy? Heck, was the farming job a lie too?

Edit: For those who are saying her hand signals in the elevator and if we think thats' normal live a sheltered life. Pfftttt.
Up until the weird waving hand motions, I could picture an emotionally distress person that is hysterical and panicking.

Edit:#2 - If she was keeping in contact up until missing, Her parents/sister must have asked her why she was in LA. That's for the police to only know I guess.

neggo 02-20-2013 10:04 PM

Wonder what they would find if they logged into her Facebook to find out more clues. If she did meet someone online, Facebook would be key, I think.

Looking again at this elevator video.
2:56-2:58
It looks edited.
The door jumps at 2:58
The clock at the bottom stops.

Found a very interesting post from websleuths,

As a Psychiatric Nurse with extensive experience I will give you my two cents worth.

IMHO her behaviour is that of someone experiencing psychosis.

1. The "holiday" alone with no fixed plans
2. History of depression - more severe mental illnesses like Schizophrenia can often first present as depression. The stress of school could have brought this on.
3. Her behaviour in the elevator looks to me like someone experiencing paranoid ideation and possibly command hallucinations (voices telling her to do something like press all the buttons). The hiding and peeking out the door is a response to the paranoid thoughts that "someone is out to get her"
4. The wild gesticulating in the corridor to seemingly nobody is a response to internal stimuli - (voices in her head).
5. She probably hid in the water tank to escape her perceived threat. People experiencing psychosis do not make rational plans.

It's been mentioned already, the video has been edited, about 1 minute removed. Not sure what the cops don't want us seeing.

They knew she was going to Santa Cruz though IIRC, just not LA

Guess she only told them of the farming job she had lined up in California.

I read an article saying she was going to Santa Cruz to learn about farming as it has to do with her major at ubc and that's where she was supposed to head to after stopping in LA

Most of it maybe true but the last part is completely absurd.

She hid in the water tank? Are you kidding me? So she got out of her clothes, and hid them somewhere, where no one could find them. Went to the roof via the stairwell naked. Got to the roof, found a ladder put it against the water tank, and opened the hatched. Jumped in, then closed the hatch while in the water........... wtf

Now an easy question for the maintenance man is to ask him if the ladder was there when he went to go check the watertank when he discovered Elisa Lam. If not then its obviously foul play. I dont think she could spiderman her way up a 3 meter tall tank

subordinate 02-20-2013 10:56 PM

If you aren't a specialist in mental illnesses or have experience, kind of hard for you to make that statement, no?

westopher 02-20-2013 10:58 PM

No, its absurd to believe paranoid schizophrenia told her the code to an alarm and made her a key to get to the water tank.

It doesnt take a specialist to figure out that she didnt just hide her clothes somewhere where no one could find it, then Hide in the watertank. She was found nude, where are her clothes? Did they magically disappear? Its obvious the killer disposed of the clothes, Or else they would of been found along time ago.

Maybe she stuffed them down the garbage chute, was naked when she climbed up. I have absolutely no idea - a lot of possibilities. And that naked theory, the article posted was the only one that stated that - and honestly, not even sure if that's even credible.

Amuse 02-20-2013 11:18 PM

Looking at the amount of graffiti on that roof, it looks like it is accessible for people other than employees.

AzNightmare 02-20-2013 11:31 PM

I'm not sure how credible is the source of her being found naked.
That seems to be a very important piece of the mystery if true, and even from media standpoint to sell a story more, that is quite a big piece of information.
Big enough that every article would have mentioned it if true. But so far, it's only been mentioned in one or two articles.

Ulic Qel-Droma 02-20-2013 11:35 PM

listen guys, obviously there was foul play:

1) she was not right in the head without drugs.

2) she was not right in the head with drugs.

3) someone did this to her

are those bed sheets??? she could have been wrapped up in them which explains the lack of clothing, and maybe even severe clogging/low water pressure

-She left on a trip in January, smack during UBC spring semester (unless she took a semester off, this is very odd); indicating she was in a rush to go there.
-Santa Cruz is just south of San Francisco. A helluva detour to go through LA, but still possible.
-Her behavior in the video may have been schizophrenia or drugs (crystal meth?)
-Her body was placed in the tank, and by someone who obviously knows the building well. Who the heck else would even think of a water tank on the roof?

My theory:
Lonely single University girl meets someone online, goes to LA to meet him. The guy is likely a local or lives nearby. They do hard drugs and he either kills her or she overdoses, or both. He disposes of her clothes to avoid his Dna being found. He has almost certainly hung out extensively on the roof to know that the tanks had easily opening hatches, indicating that he had the physical ability to climb to the tops of the tank.

news mentioned she could have climbed up a fire escape ladder, and anything is possible, don't underestimate the human body and mind. L.A. cops, these guys are sneaky motherfuckers.

Dont get me wrong, i know there are lots more horrible events and crimes that occur in the world which aren't getting the attention they deserve.

But this case feels like more could have been done or her body could have been found sooner if LAPD paid a bit more attention and urgency towards it.
For publicity sake the LAPD should know that a story concerning a foreigner with bizzare evidences of possible foulplay would garnish some international attention, and right now it does not look good for them unless they solve the case.

I feel bad for thinking this but.... after finding out her body has been discovered the first thought that popped into my mind was hangover 1 and 2

Front page of CNN not good enough for you?
