haha Im in the same boat! first time using Google+ its a nice change from facebook, just need some time to learn all the features download Hangouts as a app/extension to your google browser on your pc or phone |
Or just invite me - Shawn H. Thanks |
I don't get how hangout works either. I used it to send a message to Skinny at 6:23pm and at the bottom of the message it says "Carl isn't on Hangouts at the moment. He'll see your messages later" So I'm assuming I'm not part of the group then. |
I don't see a chat with everyone else but i'm supposedly in the hangout.....Google+ noob here too |
Don't worry guys, looks like it isn't happening at the moment. Calculations wise, and with difficulty rates increasing, some unsures atm. But if you PM Carl your google + name/revscene name, he'll add you, there's 11 of us. |
It's only worth it if you get a miner going right this second pretty much. Every minute you miss is most of your profit gone |
If it's not too late, I'd like to get in on the miner, as well. |
Added + sent a msg. Was out all afternoon so I missed like 2 pages in here. |
is there a coles notes for this bitcoin thing? Is it pretty much: - buy high end computer for 6k - "mine coins" not sure how mining works - deposit coins to wallet - cash out coins in real dollars feel free to educate the noob. |

Was wondering why this thread blew up.. read, got caught up and while skeptic (can't help it, in my nature), hope those who invest do well. Be very interested to see how this turns out... |
If you guys are looking for a cheap build to use, here's what I'm using for my mining rig:
$236 after PM and taxes. I didn't buy a HDD or a case because I plan on running Linux off a USB thumb drive and running my computer out of a cardboard box. If you wanted to shave some more cash off, you can probably find a cheaper motherboard (above is 79.99). With the above build, you should be able to run two GPUs. I'm looking at 2x 7950, which theoretically can yield 1200MH/s. Also, with a AM3 socket motherboard, you can easily turn your mining rig into a gaming desktop later on. |
You could theoretically get the cheapest old gaming PC, and as long as it has the PCI-E slots you can put in good video cards to mine with |
Yep, this is just for those that don't have the necessary equipment beforehand. |
Bitcoin noob but by April wouldn't the difficulty increase a lot what are the estimated diff increase per month |
Honestly SCREW cryptsy. I have 5BTC worth of coins in "limbo" right now. COL just doubled in the last 10min. and I wanted to sell yet my coins are nowhere to be found. Something extremely fishy is going on. |
Bought at waves ATM today. The rates are much higher than other exchanges. They use bitstamp + 7% fee :/. I couldn't wait to get verified from cavirtex so I bought some there. Had to buy from their laptop there since the ATM was too full with cash to take more buyers! At the time I bought, btc-e was at around $890 per btc and bitstamp was well into the $970. My price was $1102 at the ATM. Posted via RS Mobile |
Here is a link to a calculator that gives monthly profit. The numbers need to be updated I tried to update the ones i knew so if somebody knows what the new figures are for the other numbers it might work a little bit better. Nobody can be sure what the difficulty increase will be per month though Mining Dashboard - The Genesis Block |

I only mine with spare hardware I have around. I had spent quite a bit of time with VHDL, so I sort of understand what they are trying to leverage out of the FPGA. Each of the FPGA cards is basically self contained computers crunching numbers. As with everything, do it primarily for the knowledge not for the money. Quote:

I think preordering and waiting till mid april for a 2th machine will not be worth it. There are websites that give you realistic calulations of estimated difficulty increase plus starting your calculations at those difficulties not at our current one. I remember trying to convince a financially well off friend to purchase a 12th/s rig for 175,000$ showing the profits back in september. Difficulty was only 167,000,000. Coin was $120. I am currently mining litecoins and the first few days after building a rigg is stressful Always finetuning your rigg to squeeze every last hash out of it tweaking your bat file for the optimal setting. Now it feels good knowing it really is standalone. With maybe .5% downtime per day. You can make a $2500 rigg pay your mortgage for the time being, maybe more maybe less. Who knows with rates and difficulties. But all I know is, I am in for the long haul. Posted via RS Mobile |
The only reason I would purchase bitcoins right now is to easily obtain other cryptocurrencies. With bitcoins floating around 1000, I think you are risking a lot. Even if the bitcoins doubles to 2000. So what... you doubled your money. Meanwhile other cryptocurrencies 10x, 50x, 100x, 1000x their value. Posted via RS Mobile |

at $1102 when it's $970 at bitstamp that is +13% (which is 6% USD/CAN difference +7% ATM Markup Fee). Soooo steep! |
