I've been thinking of getting the 3DS lately. I haven't owned a DS since the days the supercard was all the rage.

Anyways, which 3DS should I get? the regular 3DS or the 3DS XL?

Get the XL. The normal one is way too small

Any games I should get other than Pokemon and Mario Kart?

Any new games worth playing? I got Tomodachi Life and is pretty fun. Thinking of getting Mario Gold and Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros.

The last game I purchased and played was Mario Golf. I like it a lot, but it makes me angry when I get a bogey on the 17th hole.

I like my 3DS, but I haven't been playing it much except when I'm out, and waiting for something. The Wii U has taken most of my gaming attention.

How's the Wii U? I have the Wii but don't like how I have to use their remote. Thinking of getting some party games and fun exercise games for myself and my sister (just dance, zumba etc etc...) the one thing that turn me away is that with the Wii even with those games you have to use their remote VS Xobx360 or Xbox One where you don't need a remote......

Has extra buttons, extra joystick (like the ibm track pad), more power.

I haven't even had my 3DS XL that long and a new one is coming out?! I'm conflicted, excited yet wish it wasn't announced just yet.

I'm a Nintendo fanboy and I even said the 2ds is a good idea for young kids who just needs a thing to play Pokemon. I don't think the new 3ds is a good idea especially when backwards compatibility is impacted in future game releases. They should just make external design, battery and screen improvements and save the performance bumps to next gen.

I agree, I'm not really sure what lead them to go in this direction :| not only did they increase the performance, they also added new buttons and a second joystick. It's going to be a lot harder for the devs if they want to take advantage of the new 3DS and also support the old 3DS.

Nintendo is in familiar territory. The Game Boy Color was in a similar position. It was fully backwards compatible, and there were games that were GBC exclusives. Most had GBC enhancements and BC. I think we'll see games that are BC with "new" 3DS features (quality toggle?). As long as new Pokemons function with current 3DS hardware, then it's all good. :)

Did the GBC have extra buttons and joystick though? I remember it being mostly the color screen and the power.

And yes as long as pokemon works it's all good!

Today, Nintendo sent out download codes for the Smash Bros 3DS demo. This allows you to play the demo a week earlier than everyone else. To qualify, you had to get Club Nintendo's Platinum status for the year that just passed. They give you 5 codes in total. One for yourself, and 4 to share. Sadly, I have given mine all out.

The demo is just a single level with 5 characters to choose from: Mario, Link, Villager, Pikachu, and Mega Man. Online isn't enabled in the demo, but there is local play to fight against others with the demo. This is my first Smash game, and I am really liking it.

Anyone have extra codes for Super Smash Bros? Let me know thanks! Greatly appreciated

I tried it on my friend's 3DS today, the game is quite smooth, it does not lag and the physics of the game seem a lot better than Melee. I can't wait for the demo to be available and be able to get the full game.

BTW if case anyone is interested. Future Shop and Best buy is having a deal for 3DS games. Buy any 2 3DS games over $35 and get $10 off the order
