As @DarrenDreger reported, Henrik Lundqvist's extension with NYR is for seven years with an AAV of $8.5M.
He's a great goalie, but wow, that's a lot of term and caphit, but the cap is expect to up so I guess it's not too bad

Hondaracer 12-04-2013 06:38 AM

Of Kesler's 9 even-strength goals, only 2 have come while playing with the Sedins.

Hang on...
Non powerplay points with Sedins: 3 goals 2 assists
Powerplay points with Sedins: 5 goals, 4 assists

subtotal
8 goals assisted by the Sedins
6 assists by Kes to the Sedins

Grand total of 14 points out of 22 playing with the Sedins.
On top of that, his highest frequency playing with any line is with the Sedins at 11.66%, next being: with Daniel and burrows at 6.86%, then with Higgins/Hansen at 6.22%

So I stand by my claim that, he's doing well because he's playing with the Sedins.

pastarocket 12-04-2013 09:12 AM

Although Kesler is racking up goals/assists because he's playing more with the twins, he definitely has the skill to score on his own.

That 41 goal season in 2010-2011 is evidence of his scoring ability. He wasn't playing much with the Sedins that season.

That career high in goals in that season was also partly due to less defensive responsibilities, less defensive zone faceoffs when Maholtra was taking up more of those tasks during the games. Kesler could focus more of the offensive side of his game.

It also helps that he has a good wrist shot, and works hard to get those garbage goals from rebounds.

Higher the seats the better for this game. Lower seats will have crappy views, staring at the boards and only seeing the top half of the players above the boards. Won't even be able to see the puck. That's why they inverted the prices, higher seats were more expensive.

It's no good if it's always hitting shin pads or going wide. I can't remember the last time he scored on a clean wrist shot. I'm not denying he has a good shot, because he does. But it takes him a while to get the shot away that it's almost always blocked. Or he adjusts and shoots it wide of the net.

There's so many good young goalies in this league right now that can be a legit starter for Edmonton & Calgary or the 2 expansion franchise.

Edmonton fucking sucks but looks good on paper. Calgary is quite clutch and legit with Cammalleri & Monahan as seen last week on HNIC against the Kings. :hat:

Wow, you went to NHL.com and leftwinglock.com, looked at the numbers, and posted them. :lawl: Congratulations on putting in the minimal possible effort.

First, Kesler has 2 goals at even-strength while playing on a line with the Sedins. Look at the replays of his goals and tell me how many Sedins are on the ice when he scores them at even-strength. 2. That's all. He also has 3 assists while playing on that line, which you'd know if you looked at the goals, but you didn't, you just read the stat lines.

Second, every team loads up their top PP units with their best players. Does Malkin play on Crosby's line? No, because no one is retarded enough to say that he does just because he plays on the same PP unit as Crosby.

Third, thanks for pointing out that, while Kesler has played a lot with the Sedins, he's largely been ineffective while playing with them and has been far more efficient offensively while playing on a separate line.

Kesler doesn't score with his wrist shot any more. Any "clean" goals from him are from one-timer slap shots on the PP.
That being said, a goal is a goal. And he's been producing them.

Mike Oxbig 12-04-2013 11:38 AM

Got my HC ticket lol

Hondaracer 12-04-2013 11:48 AM

Kinda want to go but not even at the $150 price point, maybe some will fall into my hands

Mike Oxbig 12-04-2013 11:51 AM

my tickets were $146 with $14 shipping for the tickets...everything added up to be $166 each :heckno:

YOLO

Not really racist! 12-04-2013 11:56 AM

Back to the King's contract...top 5 cap-hit in the NHL :lawl:

Full no movement clause and he's getting pretty old too.... and he's making 1.5m more than the second highest paid goalies....looks like he cares about money and not winning

Sather gonna Sather

Oh we signed Cole Cassels if anyone cares (entry level)

pastarocket 12-04-2013 12:06 PM

Lundqvist definitely got paid today. seven year contract extension, for 59.5 million. -cap hit is about 8.5 million.

AV is playing the backup goalie ahead of Lundqvist. Hmmm, sounds familiar.

Cam Talbot has won six straight games, two shutouts, and GAA 1.77. -better stats than the Rangers' Henrik.

31 year old Lundqvist? I thought that he's the same age as Lu. -3 years younger than Luongo.

He's definitely paying for the team dinner. :)

Rangers sign Lundqvist to seven-year extension

Mike Oxbig 12-04-2013 12:10 PM

lol NYR always over pay and ends up trading them or buying them out
