Seattle & Quebec City owners are loaded.

Panthers would still be better off in Florida than any of those shitty red neck states. (Except Nevada :hat:)

RRxtar 12-02-2013 04:41 PM

They just said in a press conference when they announced the Rogers deal they plan to expand the league by 2 teams in the west to create two 16 team conferences.

hotshot1 12-02-2013 05:37 PM

I'd rather get rid of 2 teams than add 2.

28 seems perfect to me; 14 in each conference, 7 in each division, more quality hockey teams/games, less shitty players like Cam Barker and Ebbett.

Mike Oxbig 12-02-2013 05:55 PM

Its gonna be Seattle and Quebec with Detroit moving back to the west

RRxtar 12-02-2013 06:45 PM

Detroit is absolutely not going back to the west. That has been a very well known thing they only moved to the West in the 90s as a short term favor.

interesting...did some googling and could not dig up any info on this favor. any details on this favor you can add?

Mike Oxbig 12-02-2013 07:42 PM

Detroit will be moving back to revive the Chicago Rivalry. They even said it on the hnic hot stove if Quebec city is indeed getting a team. Other things they've said were Jeremy Roenick will be in charge of hockey operations in Seattle or some shit...

RRxtar 12-02-2013 08:13 PM

Now I cant find it either, but I distinctly recall TSN talking about it when the topic of the Wings moving back east was discussed. From what I recall, the wings were a major factor in the shift.

Also keep in mind the major reason for the realignment was to get major teams playing in their proper time zones. Detroit and Columbus were the only eastern time zone teams playing in the west.

SkinnyPupp 12-02-2013 08:20 PM

Hope Seattle gets a team. The Canucks could use a shitty expansion team to help pad their stats again, now that they are in a tough division for once :fuckthatshit:

Tim Budong 12-02-2013 08:56 PM

The wings are in the east simply due to TimeZone

They cannot have half their games begin at 9 or 10pm their time. Columbus benefits from this move the most as they don't have to sell their games at 10pm
it makes sense for money.

That used to be Anaheim... and then they won a cup in only 13 years of existence :okay:

68style 12-02-2013 08:59 PM

I think RRxtar is right... I can't find a link right now (google searches get too muddled) but there was definitely an agreement in place that when a spot opened up in the East that Detroit was going to get it. It came up a lot when they were talking about moving Phoenix to Quebec and how one of the blocking factors was that promise to Detroit.

Mike Oxbig 12-02-2013 09:16 PM

If its 2 western expansion teams, it will be Seattle & Houston and some how Quebec city landing a team... (Florida?)

trancehead 12-02-2013 09:22 PM

i found a weak link, it stated that possibly Detroit moved over as it would bring some power to the weak West at the time of its arrival...to make hockey more exciting / marketable

Mike Oxbig 12-02-2013 09:58 PM

Do people even stay up in Detroit watching games that starts at 10pm? :fulloffuck:

kristianhay 12-02-2013 11:02 PM

Yaaay :okay:

But if a TEAM 1040 report is accurate he played the third and scrummed with reporters after the game with a broken jaw.

And it was the last game he’ll play for some time.

The on-air report, originating from Bob “The Moj” Marjanovich, suggests Burrows suffered a broken jaw on the Tanev shot.
Need confirmation

AzNightmare 12-03-2013 12:39 AM

Damn... Burrows' season has been so unlucky so far.
