Yes it's undeniable that Sakic/Yzerman/Niedermayer have a perceived "classiness" to them.

That said, just because a player on hockey team A beat the team you cheer for (hockey team B) doesn't make it ok to assault said player on a public street for allegedly no reason. When Lucic plays hockey, there's an implied risk that he might get punched in the face. That's part of the game. Punching someone lining up for food, no matter his celebrity status, is not part of life.

I'm not sure what is it about such "fans" that think they can turn back time and win an imaginary cup by physically assaulting a Bruins player. Heckle them all you want- they're paid handsomely to take verbal jabs from opposing fan bases. But what do you expect him to do if some idiot decides to take it to the next level of idiocy by allegedly sucker-punching the guy.

Add that to the fact that someone defaced his church and threw popcorn at his parents just because he won a cup in Vancouver with a team that's not the Canucks, and you can understand why he's so irked about Vancouver. If anyone has no class, it's the the idiot who allegedly threw the punch, threw the popcorn, and the idiot who defaced the church.

There aren't a whole lot of dbags that donate their time to help out their junior clubs in the summer. Or their time for charity events around the GVRD. You could do better with finding someone to hate (unless you're buddy buddy with him, know him personally, and still hate him as a person).

EDIT: butt hurt - Getting your feelings hurt, being offended or getting all bent out of shape because of something petty or stupid.

As long as everything is running well, there is no need to yell and scream and treat these adults like little kids by yellow and poking them and then benching them. But once the team goes in a funk and he uses this card, it will only work so many times before the players learn to tune him out just like what happened to AV and Torts in NY.

Crow was a pretty good coach. Coached the cup wining Avs team and started off well in Vancouver but eventually players tuned him out too.

The team was doomed from the beginning. Gretz not shooting was the last nail in the coffin, so it gets the most play.
