Does Telus monitor bandwidth usage now?

Koflach 09-01-2013 10:45 PM

i haven't had an issue with bandwidth (I've been with them for about 3 years now) and I download a lot of tv shows/movies.

i've primarily played Diablo 3 and have not seen any performance issues due to the internet connection.

way2quik 09-10-2013 02:48 PM

Telus install took about 5 hours. Lol. Overall, I'm quite happy how professional the installer was because it was quite a bitch with the old wiring around the house and everything had to be done from scratch. With the provided modem/router, I can say I'm pretty much done with configuring routers. The one Telus provides works right out of the box.

Yes, monitored but you won't get a letter unless you are crazy crazy over the limit.

How long ago did you get your stuff installed? There is a issue with refurbished modems lately.

I know someone who went above and beyond 250GB in a month and nothing happened. But this was almost 8 years ago haha

(Then again, that's probably peanuts to some of you guys.)

Anyone know of any good Telus or Shaw deals going on right now? Looking for TV and Internet service.

way2quik 09-15-2013 07:53 PM

anyone have issues with their Optik TV?
It's been raining the whole day and since, my phone line is static with a busy signal and the TV signal is skipping every or so second.

BrRsn 09-15-2013 08:00 PM

shaw student plan is available -- just need proof of enrollment and you can get high speed internet/cable for something ridiculously cheap like >$60/month

So I called and they sent a technician over who said they are out of stock on the wireless extenders. He also said it may be difficult to install in my house and that it would cost another $100.

He gave me a new router to try but in still having the same wifi problems.

I wanna try using my own router but the process seems too complicated.

Anyone got any other ideas or do I need to swap back to shaw?

It shouldn't be too complicated to plug in yours behind the actiontec. There are lots of guides on it.

Harvey Specter 09-19-2013 01:36 PM

I have both Shaw and Telus (work related) and I love Telus Optik TV especially with the new channel realignment but you can't compare Telus internet vs Shaw internet...

Ya I saw the guide and it seemed very complicated especially since I have to do things that involve my tv as well.

For those who are curious, Telus rolled out FTV II HD and TTV II HD channels. Free preview till the end of the month I heard.

Now I don't have to download 720p HK drama anymore day after day. lol.
It was a total PITA that FTV airs HK drama one year after.

I do feel jipped knowing Telus will be charging $5 for each HD channel.

Verdasco 10-08-2013 05:59 PM

how do ppl get better plans? currently paying 125 for cable, internet and phone. Where is the student plan on the site? I was a student  ..... maybe telus is cheaper?
