there's a telus 50? hmmm now im going to really have to consider switching...i thought they were forever stuck at 15/20

knight604 11-11-2014 03:48 PM

Yeah , there is even telus 100 if you have fiber hooked up in your area.

nabs 11-11-2014 05:17 PM

It all depends on your area, if you're near a SAC box with the appropriate RDAC installed in it, you can get 50/100mbps.

Call and find out for sure though. Sometimes even if you don't qualify they can test your circuit to find out if its good enough for a week or so then if it all pans out they will keep you at that rate.

so i finally had a chance to test the router with the Ethernet Cord, I plugged it in and got 26MB download. I tested the speed over WiFi and also got 26MB.
weird why i got 1-3mb the other day.

Is there a best time to sign up for Shaw BB50?

Think there will be deals during the holidays better than 80/month?

Best to look on the telus website or call in.

Alby 11-16-2014 12:28 PM

just spoke to a live agent on telus website. said i had to do a portability check to find out if im good for telus 100.

Telus 100 is $93/month non-bundled
The download speed is up to 100mbps, upload speed up to 20mbps, 10 email accounts that can be created for free with webspace of 100MBP each. Data usage up to 500GB, free TELUS security and free modem rental.

Shaw BB100 is similar only difference is BB100 upload speed is 10mbps. but at $90/month.

which to pick if both is available in the area???

I believe all of shaws internet prices will increase in January so it will probably be more than 90 then.

Someone told me that Telus 25 equals to BB50. Are these claims true or a bunch of bs. Something about not having to share a connection which Shaw uses compared to Telus which is individual.

DavidNguyen 11-17-2014 08:31 AM

I've got to mention that. Shaws customer service/support is probably the best out there. So friendly and patient etc..

I've basicalky only has good experiances with Shaw in the 10+ years we've been with them

Hondaracer 11-22-2014 07:50 PM

Anyone have any experience with the new Shaw wifi dual band modem?

Motorola SBG6782

gurdeep007 11-24-2014 12:59 PM

Last night I was getting 2.56 download speed and time out error on the upload with SHAW. I called their technical support line they said my saturation was 93% the rep was shocked, rarely seen it so bad.

He hooked me up with a free 5G wireless modem, picked it up and im getting 25 download with a 23 upload speed now.

DavidNguyen 11-24-2014 04:37 PM

Doh. I should have done that.
Other week I was getting 3 mb download

H.Specter 11-24-2014 05:34 PM

currently on telus hs15 for $43/month + taxes

called in to discontinue and was going to jump to shaw for their hs25 at $30/month for 6 months, no contract

telus was happy to match it, i was getting 15mbps download so hopefully this lives up to 25!

got hung up by a rep a few days ago when she didn't know shit and was out of answers 20+ minutes in the conversation. Worst customer experience ever... and the wait times...

My family was using 7.5 mbps download speed for 60$/month over the past few years :heckno: no wonder i lagged and shit. 500k upload speed as well ha!

Broadband 50 with 3.5 upload was only 5$ more and i got more channels on my box with this new bundle :fuckyea:

so theres nth wrong with their services, the problem lies within ur equipment, do u really think they'll do something abt it?

Hondaracer 11-26-2014 08:46 PM

so shaw came to apartment today and setup the Shaw25 with the new dual band router/modem from Motorola as well as their basic $14.90 a month for the first 6 cable package + 1 additional package

Tech was great, i know a decent amount about networking and wiring but when i explained what i wanted in terms of where to hookup what, what my plans were he pulled the outlet covers and had to rewire the coaxial inside the wall because the previous owner had basically jumped it from the main to the living room with eletrical tape, super hack job.

he fixed it up got me all set answered all my questions in about 30 minutes from arrival to leaving. Getting consistant 24-26mb/s on the download. Streaming HD netflix, 1080 video, ipad streaming music, and iphone streaming radio no drops, seemless for once unlike the BS telus before.

Ch28 11-28-2014 12:31 PM

Switched back from Shaw BB50 back to Telus 25 because our promo plan ran out. Hopefully it won't be too huge of a downgrade.

Has anyone seen this?
Shaw Cutting Internet Speeds? Wrong, Telecom Says, But Prices Are Rising

TOPEC 12-16-2014 08:25 PM

yes, all existing plans will be grandfathered in with an increase in price, starting jan shaw will introduce new plans which r at a slower speed and slightly more expensive, i think at 5,30,and 60mbps, no more 50 and 100mbps.
