Sorry can't say as the PA2V2 is just sitting in my drawer gathering dust as I haven't used it in years; just a remnant of when I was really into headphones. From what I remember it was deep and punchy, worked well with the Grados as it mellowed out the highs and warmed up the mid and lows.

Needs a new set of rechargeable batteries to work again, but may pick some up just to try it out. Or just sell it I guess haha.

Thanks to RFD, I bought the Seinnheiser Amperior (HD25) for $140. Momentums were on sale too, but too rich me. I've only listened to them for a few minutes, but they are a significant improvement over my beloved Sonys. However, for such expensive headphones, they have some flimsy looking plastic to hold it altogether. They're supposed to be for portable use, but I question the durability.

OMG... just had a look through RFD, and there's a further price drop on the Amperiors. They are only $120 now!! OOS online, but plenty in the stores. I'm going to go get some money back now.

The Amperior is tempting at that price.

It's becoming a nuisance to listen to headphones from my home receiver. I've just placed an order for a Pocket Amp 2 (PA2V2). On the website, it's $70 USD without batteries, but I emailed the creator directly, and he sold it to me for $65 CDN, shipping/taxes included. It'll be shipped out tomorrow, so I should have it by the end of the week. This guy stands behind his product with a lifetime warranty, even if it's your fault it breaks.

I have:

1. Sony MDR-V6 - classic headphones. I use them for more laid back stuff (mostly indie music)

2. Sennheiser Amperior (HD25) - got these at $120. Great deal. Use these mostly for faster-paced or bass-heavy music (rap, EDM).

3. Yuin PK3 - use these for outside listening. I had Brainwavz M2 IEMs but I can't really stand in-ear phones anymore so I decided to go for earbuds.

I knew I was taking sound to the next level with a purchase of the Amperiors, but the PA2V2 steps it up, further! It's like getting sound delivered through a fire hose vs the stock power garden house. Even at low volumes, there's power and range. I plugged it into my craptacular Hauwei Y300 smartphone, and it almost sounds better than plugging into my home receiver!

Aune T1 + Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250 ohm. Great for EDM thanks to the 6922EH tube. Vocals really come alive and the bass emphasis is there in a good amount, not overdone like the ATH-M50 or Beats.

Audio Technica ATH-M50 with Beyerdynamic EDT250V ear pads. The go-to headphones for almost everything. The original pleather pads suck. They trap a lot of heat and makes you sweat. These velour pads are comfy, and reduces the bass by a little bit.

Sound Blaster Recon3D + Plantronics Gamecom Commander. PS4 gaming only. I find this pairing better than a simple Astro headset. The THX surround is not a gimmick, it actually has good positioning. Sort of better than Dolby Headphones technology because THX's effects are overblown, which helps in FPS games. In COD, do you really want realistic sound or overblown, obvious positional audio?

It's 2"x2"x1". I bought it because it was mentioned in this thread, and after some research, I figured it'd be a good headphone amp to start with. They're hand-built in Canada, and have a lifetime, no questions asked, warranty. The construction quality is simple, yet durable. It's one of those pieces of electronics I'll have in my vintage collection when I'm an old man

I just got my shipment notice from Massdrop regarding the Aune T1. It should be here next week. I'm really looking forward to comparing them with the PA2V2.

I'm looking for a recommendation on where to buy tubes for the T1. It doesn't matter if it's local or online, but I am looking for selection and good price.

Not a real headset type guy, so I'm kind of newb.

I was at Bestbuy a few weeks ago and tried out the Bose QC15's, they were amazing! I figure since I fly quite a bit, and like to listen to music at the gym too, they would be awesome to keep noise out so I can stay focused on whatever I'm doing/music. Are there any comparable ones to the QC15's for a better price (i.e. 00$)?

QC15s are nice, but quite expensive since they have that Bose label. The noise cancellation works quite well. Too bad you missed the clearance of the Sennheiser Amperiors, and other models. Although, they don't have active noise cancellation; they still block out sound with the ear cups, and sound incredible. The clearance price made them a must-buy. QC15s go on sale now and then for $200, though.

I received my Aune T1 today! From the initial listen, it's definitely an improvement over the PA2V2. The PA2V2 is still awesome for portable use, but it's a third of the cost of a T1 for a reason . The T1 has stronger mids, and doesn't have that late hit with mid-bass notes. Also, since it's a DAC, any (negligible) interference from the computer is gone! Now, I gotta find me some tubes!

This is an addiction, but I, strongly, believe that this will be my final purchase until I win the lottery : HD700 @ Todd's

At this price, it's hard to pass up. Give me some opinions. Maybe I can save $700

What. Get rid of your Aune T1 now and build yourself the Bottlehead Crack with Speedball upgrade! Otherwise you'll be insulting the HD700! By the way, Sennheisers are very analytical and flat. You sure you won't be bored quickly?

Anyway I highly recommend Upscale Audio for tubes. I bought a tube, and I received it in 1 week. They are very well rated on Head-Fi so you can be sure they are not giving you counterfeits. I bought an Amperex 7308 and it is brand spanking new. So if you want tubes, do check them out.

I purchased some more tubes from a famous eBay member and will get back to you guys soon if he is trustworthy or not. This time I bought Amperex 6DJ8 Orange Globe, and Amperex 6922 PQ. Tube rolling is an addiction, and the Aune T1 is a cheap way to get started! I highly highly recommend everyone here to just buy the Aune T1 and experiment.

Oh by the way, why not take a chance with Amazon's Warehouse? I bought a few things before from them and it has been extremely reliable. Amazon's terrific customer service means if you don't like it, you can ship it back for free and get a full refund.

With that said, HD 700 used, $517 USD. Amazon.com: Buying Choices: Sennheiser HD 700 Headphone - Black

Maybe next time! I ordered a pair from Todd's. I don't feel like picking it up in Blaine, and after taxes, the brand new pair is around $50 more than the "Like New" Amazon pair.
