My CPU % is around 40-45% and GPU around 65-70% (double checked with Afterburner)

When I set it to 4K (using DSR) GPU% goes up to 99% (but frame rate around 40 fps in this scene)

1330P (1.5 native res) gets 90% but 47 FPS

Edit:

https://i.imgur.com/ffjD1x6.jpg

4K DSR = 41 FPS, 99% GPU%

1080p = 43 FPS, 60% GPU%

This thread has cemented my position on how much easier it is to just get a console and enjoy it as it is lol. Yeah it might not look as pretty but I turn it on and don't think twice about whether I should tweak this or that, and I just enjoy the game.

I'll probably pick up the PS5 version mid to late 2021 when all the patches have rolled out.

Thing is, I could just turn off RT and get console quality and play at 70 fps

But I bought this GPU and game to enjoy the amazing graphics, that's why I keep trying to get it to work! WutFace

Oh I totally get it, I just think I'd drive myself nuts always trying to get the most out of my setup, always checking how many fps it's running at and why it's not doing better with what I have. Sometimes "this is what you get" can make the game more enjoyable lol

Razor Ramon HG 12-10-2020 01:50 PM

You guys see the videos of the game running on last generation?

Surprised CDPR even released it for those consoles. It's actually so bad.

A few videos uploaded to Twitter on these accounts.

Here's a video from Digital Foundry.

The thing is until now, consoles never even offered modes that I find to be playable... 30 FPS is totally unacceptable to me, and 60 is bare minimum.

With a PC I can always tweak the game to get what I want. On a console, games are either literally unplayable, or not as good as I'd like, with no way to make it better.

It's up to the game devs to deliver a functioning game, and lately they seem to have had some issues doing that. It's 2020 so I can't complain too much, but it's kind of frustrating.

SkinnyPupp 12-10-2020 01:59 PM

Good news! (edit: kinda)

I remembered that I had similar performance problems with RDR2, and had to update the BIOS to fix it

So I updated the BIOS

Game runs better now

Edit: After further testing, it's better, but still chunky. It looked so smooth when I started the game though

FeelsBadMan

twitchyzero 12-10-2020 02:44 PM

i prefer image quality over performance for campaign/story mode
24p is fine for me, 'cinematic' lol

SkinnyPupp 12-10-2020 03:05 PM

24 fps is fine when you don't have to interact with anything, but if you can handle that kind of lag between what your hands do and what your eyes see, all the power to ya... For me I get nauseous just thinking about it LUL

poor guy's vega64 blew up trying to run crysis of 2020

uhggggggg... fucking spent like $600 on that card to basically play Fallout 4 at its limits and that's like the only game I got to run to its full capability now my PC is at the end of its life lol ... fuck

This is why i stopped chasing my tail with playing games on PC and am just sticking to console. Even though I enjoy playing on the PC more, it's just too expensive to keep upgrading.

SpeedStars 12-10-2020 04:10 PM

Have any of you guys noticed any weird glitches? Ive been getting pretty weird asset pop ins such as characters T posing pretty often and random objects such as phones or chopsticks would just float. Hoping that moving the game from an hdd to ssd might help.

ilovebacon 12-10-2020 04:38 PM

god, this game is awful on ps4...

Yeah, I have the game coming in but i'm really considering putting it on a shelf until my PS5 arrives.

It's a 5 year old $300 GPU... Look at how the game plays on 5 year old $400 consoles

Hondaracer 12-10-2020 05:39 PM

And my entire computer is probably reaching 9+ years old or more now, so I’m not too upset. Probably the best computer I ever owned in terms of longevity and staying near the top end for most of its life.

I recently picked up a new hobby that I’m into for a few k so I won’t be building a new computer anytime soon lol :okay:

Eh that PS4 video doesn’t seem too bad.. if my r9 would be better than that I’d be ok with it..maybe.. lol

Ch28 12-10-2020 06:44 PM

Radeon 5600XT gets me 1080p medium settings with great smoothness (haven't bothered to log FPS)

I had a PS4 version pre-ordered from last year and I'm glad I cancelled it and ended up buying it from GOG instead. I'd be so upset if I bought the PS4 version and saw how much shittier it runs compared to the other versions available.

ilovebacon 12-10-2020 06:52 PM

Sony has a shitty return policy too. You might as well save up for the next gen xbox

Mr.Money 12-10-2020 08:16 PM

the game is most likely an un-optimized piece of shit right, i'm gonna hold off on it now till some updates come out..

then again, look at AAA titles like red dead redemption 2 on pc that still seems to run like shit with GTA.

do these studios really care to invest anymore in there game once its out?.

ime2006 12-10-2020 08:34 PM

Finally, got RTX 3080 popped into 2600K rig....

Maxed out + RT on
4K + DLSS set to Quality
25-35 FPS

4K + DLSS set to Ultra Performance
36-62 FPS

1080P + DLSS set to Quality
41-58 FPS

1080P + DLSS set to Ultra pefromance
42 - 65 FPS

Looks like 4K FPS with DLSS, does not have huge different between 2600K and 8700K

SkinnyPupp 12-10-2020 10:05 PM

CDPR is pretty well known for supporting their broken games for a long time after release date LUL

They needed to delay this another 6 months to have it working properly, but you can consider this basically the Release Candidate. Play it now, or wait 6 months for the actual final version.

Sucks I know, but covid

SpeedStars 12-11-2020 12:16 AM

Got the game to finally run at a stable 75 FPS. The hard hitters for FPS seem to be any of the shadow settings + volumetric cloud+fog settings. Turned those all to medium and it's a much better experience now. I barely notice the difference graphically, but definitely notice the smoothness

SkinnyPupp 12-11-2020 01:51 AM

BTW when talking about performance, it would be a good idea if we all talked about the same area. I can get up to 75 FPS if I'm in certain areas without a lot of people or lighting effects

Toms hardware used the area outside the apartment, so IMO we should use that when sharing performance results. I'll post a screenshot

I'm still getting some dips into the low 60s while driving around the major areas, but otherwise has been fine. Right outside of the apartments I'm getting between 68-75fps with these settings.

SkinnyPupp 12-11-2020 03:18 AM

Must be nice FeelsBadMan

I've tried everything I can think of, all I can do is wait for a patch
