Here are my screenshots and settings.

First image at 63 FPS is with high crowd density.

Second image at 78 FPS is with medium crowd density.

Resolution is 1440p. System is a 3600X + RTX 3080.

SpeedStars 12-11-2020 03:57 AM

Is your 3600 OC'd at all? I had some pretty bad dips and played around with the OC today + set the game on high priority. Made such a big difference

Hondaracer 12-11-2020 06:39 AM

looks like a beautiful game when the settings are cranked up

roastpuff 12-11-2020 08:16 AM

I'm getting a solid 40-60FPS with a 3600X + 3070, 1440FPS, RTX on, most settings on high (cascaded shadows on medium). Will post settings and screenshot later.

Dips down to <30 FPS for cutscenes though, odd.

I'll probably pick up the PS5 version mid to late 2021 when all the patches have rolled out.

This is somewhat why I took myself out of PC Gaming. My neurotic mind could never just chill on my settings and current PC setup. Always trying to tweak, never thinking it was perfect, drove me fucking nuts :lol

mikemhg 12-11-2020 08:39 AM

Are people actually complaining about PS4 performance?

It's an 8 year old system, jesus :lol

I understand that they need to release it on the consoles that the majority of people own, but damn, there has to be a limit to that. At some point the umbilical cord must be cut.

This game is truly next gen, if you're a past-gen owner, you shouldn't be whining that the game looks like shit on it.

Jmac 12-11-2020 10:08 AM

I asked my friend who got it for PS4 Pro and he said it plays fine. Obviously graphics aren’t as good as new gen/PC but he says it’s smooth and similar graphics to other AAA titles for PS4.

I could definitely understand base PS4/XB1/XB1S having major issues but PS4 Pro/XB1X should be playable.

A few things to consider

-The game was announced before those consoles even came out
-One of the game's original release dates was before the new gen consoles were even announced

I guess it becomes "just don't play it if you don't have the hardware" but honestly I'm shocked this game was even certified for base consoles.

mikemhg 12-11-2020 11:22 AM

Meh, GTA5 also played like garbage on the PS3. Dragon Age Inquisition was also garbage on the PS3.

It should known by now that once you get to the end of a console's given era, and a new one is announced (as the PS5 was), it's pretty much game over.

Cyberpunk 2077 was touted as being a visual masterpiece, the developers were fully aware of PS5's concept and imminent release much prior to its actual release date. Knowing that, why would CDPR want to nerf their game for a near obsolete platform?

It seems silly.

I get it's somewhat unfair, but in every console era those last games released that fall onto both generations, they always end up playing like crap on the prior. I look forward to when devs can finally stop placating to old tech, and actually give us a true next-gen game. Might be a while.

Nope, still 30-40 fps outside the apartment

Fucking people on reddit claiming like 20-30 FPS increase FailFish

That's why I made sure if we're going to compare frame rates, do it in the same place always

SkinnyPupp 12-11-2020 03:48 PM

Switched to Dev Channel for Windows Insider builds...

If this doesn't work the next step is do a dedicated Windows install on another drive and just use that for the game

Those people from reddit, they are more like on Butt Dyno......

I don't think its that much of increase. I will test it out when i get home.

Probably for money lol

imagine blowing 80 dollars on a ps4 copy and this..

MarkyMark 12-11-2020 05:37 PM

It's definitely money. Everyone and their grandma owns a PS4 or an Xbox One, while barely anyone owns a PS5 or Series X. That's a shit load of pre orders and day one sales lost to not include them.

It's going to be another year or so before developers stop trying to cash in on the old gen.

twitchyzero 12-11-2020 07:41 PM

you alienate too many fans by releasing it on the current-gen that's only 1 month old

besides, the game was announced 8 years ago

holy crap i just realized star citizen is still in development FeelsBadMan

Ch28 12-11-2020 08:10 PM

I'm about 10 hours into the game and night city is pretty boring outside of all the same little side missions they have littered all over.

The fact that you can't even get tattoos or hair cuts or change your appearance in a game about cybernetic mods is absolutely ridiculous.

SkinnyPupp 12-11-2020 08:59 PM

Now fucking Valhalla won't start :fuckthatshit:

Edit: Reverted from the dev build of windows, works again

underscore 12-12-2020 12:09 AM

So eight and a half years wait for a game that runs like dog shit on anything that isn't incredibly expensive?

SkinnyPupp 12-12-2020 02:19 AM

I'm 99% sure there's something causing the CPU to choke under load during scenes like the one in front of the apartment (and other clubs with lots of neon)

This is something I suspected a few pages ago, because GPU load was really low, and also the sources claiming good performance in that area are on Intel CPUs.

Once you get to other areas, the GPU load hits the expected 99% and the game performs fine.

I think most of this was caused by the game putting you in these flashy places right away, so instead of enjoying the atmosphere, we're left wondering why the performance is so bad. Of course if you're used to consoles, you just accept it and assume that's just how it is. For me, it was way below my expectations, and my hype levels were high.

I'll be installing a better cooler on this CPU soon, so I'll be able to overclock a bit. If this part of the game responds highly to overclocking, you know it's a CPU issue.

It's also possible that something is wrong, and a patch will be released to address the CPU getting bogged down

I've been posting here a lot because I've been sharing every step of the way. So maybe that makes it look worse than it is LUL also I am really picky about frame rate, I can't stand low FPS on a mouse, and I straight up don't like using controllers in 3d games, so... I'm just picky that way, I think most people will be fine.

SpeedStars 12-12-2020 02:32 AM

Low GPU usage would mean a CPU bottleneck wouldn't it? My 3600x never goes past 55% usage. I've got a 240mm rad + 4.2ghz all core OC which I think could explain the difference in frame consistency between your experience and mine

Theoretically, yeah... Usually it would only come up with low settings and low resolution though - Raytracing should be taxing the GPU before the CPU ever comes into play, even at 1080p. Also the game loads the GPU properly in other areas... So it seems to me that it is likely a bug causing the issue. It's not like the 3600X is outdated by any means
