CFO: "Unfortunately, Mr. 2damaxmr2, quoting regulations verbatim rather than paraphrasing isn't grounds for revoking a PAL. Also, you seem to have forgotten that the internet isn't real life. We cannot accept complaints against screen names. Stop acting like an internet tough guy and wasting our time." *click* mr2: "I miss my fail button." |
Both of you stop arguing before this thread gets locked. |
Agreed. I apologize for my provoking post. I wasn't up for taking any shit today. Moving on... I just looked up the cz 858. It's now on the prohibited list :( Wish I could've snagged one when they were available. Hopefully CZ will come out with a new model. :D |

Can anyone school me on aquiring a specific American made firearm? One of my goals some day is to purchase a Barrett REC7 (piston AR), but I do not know whether that is an unrealistic goal based on whether I'd ever be able to get one into the country. |

what shops do you guys go to? Which have you found to have the best customer service, best prices etc? For me it's wanstalls in maple ridge and reliable gun in vancouver. Any shops you guys have been to that you don't like? And why? Posted via RS Mobile |

I also recently found Eagle Hunting Supplies in Richmond which had friendly staff that helped me out a lot when I went there. I'll definitely go back. Leverarms is terrible. The staff is really rude and I recommend to avoid it no matter what. Pay more elsewhere and give your hard earned money to people that deserve it. |
my experience with italian was super fucking shitty. i actually prefer going to lever over italian. |
you can always get a csa they aren't prohibited... who knows what'snext llol Posted via RS Mobile |

Nice! Didn't know about the VZ58, aaaand another one to add to the wishlist. haha. I've heard about that too, but I don't think I'd hold my breath until I actually see one for sale. |
people who know more than i do may correct me, but i beleive when i took my RPAL the instructor said that weapons made after uhhh..46 cannot be grandfathered? basically the guy said when he knew he was going to die or if he did his guns would get "stolen" ie. passed to family ive shot the CZ before, personally i dont think it's worth it i'd much prefer to buy the JR Carbine, etc Does anyone have any experiance with ranges in Vegas? anywhere to shoot the Barrett .50? as well, do ranges there allow you to shoot auto or semi auto guns whole magaginzes or belts? ie. just holding the trigger down for all your ammo on somthing like an M249? |
from what I've heard Noone else can get prohibited status, but you can own a prohibited rifle as long as it's decommissioned I'm not too sure on pistols, then again I can be wrong Posted via RS Mobile |
What's everyone's thoughts on a .22LR as home defense. I know it's a very contentious issue, just wondering how you guys feel about it? I've shot pretty much all handgun calibres. But I can only imagine my ears blowing out inside my house if I shot a 9mm. |

There is a reason why .22LR firearms are considered firearms, they can seriously injure humans regardless of what some people say about the ballistics. It's a perfectly good caliber for home defense if it's paired with the right platform, you just have to be aware that it will either have trouble with, or completely fail at penetrating a decent vest. It is also suited to home defense since it is not as powerful as some other cartriges, therefore you run less of a risk of killing your neighbour. |
Does anyone have experience with Italian Sporting Good's online store? Is everything that is online also at the store? They seem to have guns in stock that no other store in Vancouver does. |
before we get into the whole home defense and everything it's illegal to point a gun at anyone, and if you end up shooting someone breaking in they probably have ever more rights then you, who knows I'd never wanna find out, it's kinda dumb how we don't have the right to bare arms like Americans. I've heard a lot of shootings happen with 22 because projectile is harder to match to the barrel and etc. this is all hearsay I'm no expert Posted via RS Mobile |

For those interested read up on the Iam Thomson case (he fired some shots as attackers were running away from firebombing his house). The gov't had his ass, lengthy court battles, etc. http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/...lf-with-a-gun/ Side note: Incubus can your dad not pass on his prohib status onto you? 12.6 or 12.7? |
It might not be a human, but here's a 22 on a squirrel. The right shot placement, and it would probably take down a person. I'm happy to say that this isn't the states and we're not allowed to shoot intruders. If you're being robbed in your home. call the police and don't confront the robbers. In Canada, defense with a firearm is considered, from what I recall in my law course is if you're in mortal danger. Otherwise if you fight someone, you gotta be on equal footing. like bat vs bat, fists vs fists. Feel free to correct me if this is mis-information. Whoa, apparently, you can fire warning shots, but expect a charge and acquittal, according to what happened in the link above. Did a bit more research, here's a link with some situations and answers to defense. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/self-d...-law-1.1229180 tl;dr it's a grey area, you're allowed to use "reasonable force". |
