I was just checking out those bipods, Steve. They sure look weird on the page until you see the picture of one mounted.

Those scopes look good. Nice hardware, good machining. If the glass is good, you're laughing. It's funny to think of spending $400 on a scope for a .22 though. The great thing is, if you don't want to keep it on the .22, you could always move it to another gun.

My brother just bought a Lapua .338 and is looking for glass for it. He showed me a link today for a Zeiss Victory FL Diavari 6-24x56mm. Gently used, it's $2300. Damn.

Damn.

Hey Ryan - there isn't a pic rail on the bottom of the hand guard - is there a way to mount a bipod on this without changing the guard?

Edit - looks like Harris makes a bipod adapter. Any brand better than the others?

ugh. Adaptors.....
I have one on my Charger pistol and it's not too bueno. But if it's your only option, Harris is the choice. Accu-shot out of Woverine supply does adaptors and bipods, but they're big money.

That said, if you go with the Accu-shot stuff from Wolverine, check out the Fab Defense dovetail AR grips. They're muey bueno.

So........... IRunGuns is having a big AR sale.....
https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...-Ready-to-ship

Here are a couple of options.

Armalite Eagle-15 ORC AR15 5.56mm NATO Black
$549.99 USD

S&W M&P15 SPORT II 223REM 16 ADJ STK MBUS 30RD
$599.99 USD

RUGER AR-556 Autoloading Rifle 5.56 NATO 16.1 Inch Barrel
$624.99 USD

Awesome 5.56 options from Ruger, S&W, DPMS and armalite.

and then there's the one I am thinking about.....

DPMS Panther 7.62 NATO Oracle Semi-Auto .308 Win 16 19+1 6 Point Stk Blk scope not included
$699.99 USD

Because 7.62 nato.
So cheap. So plentiful.

So denizens of RS.
What say you?!

Goes to show you how the market has softened when they start flogging ARs up north here. Wow.

My vote is on the 7.62 and I kinda like the no-front sight V look, so the Armalite would be my second choice. But then again, you have two hands....

Now that is pretty damn cool. I wonder what your range would say if you walked up to the line like this?

fuckkk those prices! wish i had some dough

after shooting my dads Norinco M4 knock off in .223 i think i'd go with a heavier grain bullet just for the hell of it

shooting the .308 SCAR in Vegas was fun, what a pain in the ass shooting heavy rounds like that must be in actual combat though lol

Managed to hit up both International and Italian today. Picked up ammo and a set of dies from International and from Italian - a nice old Ithaca 900 that I have been eying up for almost a year and was on sale for a price that I thought was fair. It matches my Ithaca 900 in 20g - so looking forward to shooting this one.

Managed a little group therapy yesterday. I wanted to zero my scope on both my AR and also my old 7mm MAG that got back from the gunsmith, having the crown redone and the barrel floated better in the stock.

The three shot group were my first three down the pipe on the old 7mm - doped it a little right and called it a day (the picture is rotated wrong in attachment). The 20 shot group was my AR at 50yds, sitting at a bench - it has potential and is so tame to shoot.

That's the beauty of reloading, is that you can create your own round. I have been playing with my 357 and love it. Time to buy more dies so I can start reloading 5.56.

You are right about the heavy shot though. I hip fire my 12 guage all day long and it doesn't bother me. But a half dozen shots from my 45/70 and it starts to get to you. That thing kicks like a mule!

That's not so much a shotgun, but a work of art.

Yeah, those Ithacas at first really weren't my style, but the engravings have warmed up to me and I quite like them now - they are unique and I will probably not own other guns like them.
I posted this on CGN in a long recoil semi-auto shotgun thread, which all of these shotguns are long recoil (uses a spring and the barrel slides to eject the shells - sounds like a mini artillery gun).

My neighbour lent me his luggage scale to weigh my guns, so I decided to get a family photo:

Top to bottom: 1967 Browning A5 20g Magnum, Ithaca 900 20g, Ithaca 900 12g, 1963 Breda Automatic 12g. Both 12g weighed 7.4lbs and both 20g weighed 5.8lbs - though the Ithaca 20g just feels like it is lighter.

Ithaca 900's: 12g top, 20g bottom

Ithaca 900's: 20g left, 12g right

I really like the engravings. I remember an episode of American Guns where the young guy was doing engraving, and it turned out so well. The kid had 40 hours into the single gun.

thanks to google for the screen shot.

I'd give a nut for this DE50.

so hawt.

On a side note, I have a question to ask the knowledge base here.

So, I've been reloading 357 for a few months now and really enjoy it. I love the round, as it has enough kick to be fun, but without breaking the bank.

I want to get myself a lever action 357, like the Rossi ranch hand or Henry Big Boy. Since they're tube fed, do I need a special projectile? Or can I use what I have?

I have 3 projectiles that I'm working with.

180gr FMJ

158gr Lead

140gr Lead

Wad cutters may have feed issues - the FMJ shouldn't be an issue. You will also need to crimp your rounds well so that the bullets don't bend while coming up the ramp.

Good to know.
My worry was that the round nose would cause an issue with the primer while the rounds were in the tube. My 45/70 has rubber tipped projectiles to help alleviate that exact issue.

I could see the wadcutters having feed issues. They were cheap so I have them. But I haven't used them yet.

Don't forget that your OAL will be important to chamber correctly, it is easy to forget about OAL when reloading for a revolver as it doesn't matter that much

Had a fun morning of fixing a few rifles for a couple friends of mine. First was an extractor spring on the bolt of a 1965 Win 94 in 44 MAG. Those old levers are pretty easy to pull apart and the machine work on the bolt looked like a kid on a grinder went to town on it - not what you would expect from Winchester, considering the price they command.

The second was a busted Action Bar Lock on an old Remmy 742 trigger. I need to order that part, but taking the trigger group apart was interesting. Though relatively straight forward, I still managed to send the hammer spring shooting across the room. I got it all back together and will await the parts from WGP.

I also touched up the bare metal on the end of my 7mm, which was recrowned and left bare by the gunsmith. I discovered that G96 Gun Blue has a nice deep black to it and matched the old bluing quite well. Impressed, I touched up the receiver on the Win 94 as it had a lot of wear below the gate. I like the black colour, I may redo the barrel on Mossberg that I blued with Otters and that blue is almost see-through.

Messed around a bit with my AR today. I added a Harris #5 stud adapter to the hand guard, a Caldwell pivot bipod, and a Magpul 10rd magazine in order to get it low enough for my son to shoot. That Delta ring did not want to slide down easy - that was a bit of a grunt getting the hand guard off.

No
I have an ar and 357 lever action on my radar now. But everytime I'm at the range I try to take advantage of no charge rentals. I pay about $28 for a full mag of seven 50cal shots. For me, it's the best way to really enjoy a desert eagle.
