I checked the other day, and it is in fact a Magnum Research 50.
I was doing some reading about that, and apparently the IWI and Magnum 50 cal pistols are made in either Israel, or Maine depending on what their date of build is. I'm thinking the range owns one of the Maine built pistols after the Kahn industries takeover.

neat stuff.

I took the morning to put together a friend's Remington 742 that was brought to me in pieces and with a broken disconnector on the trigger group. That disconnector is a discontinued part, but I tracked one down from Western Gun Parts in Edmonton as well as new sear and hammer springs.

These guns were made to be carried into the bushes and this one had certainly had a hard life - it was scratched to hell, missing bluing on the crown, the bolt handle, the bottom of the action, and various scratches all over the barrel. Even though my friend said he cleaned the barrel, I soaked it overnight with Wipeout and the first few patches were pure blue - signs of copper fouling.

So, I scrubbed out the barrel, replaced the disconnector, disassembled it so I could get the gas tube out to clean (it was completely caked with built up powder as well as the handgaurd being caked in residue), and reblued the action, the crown, the magazine, the bolt handle, the handgaurd's sling stud, and various scratches on the barrel. It was a decent little project that went really smooth.

Pictures aren't the best, but I was in a hurry to get my boys to soccer on time.

I wish I had more time to reload - I quite like it. Managed to load up 30 rounds of .270 Win last night, trying Reloder 17 for the first time and 130g bullets for the first time amongst other weights. This morning I reloaded 50 rounds of .270 WSM for a friend of mine in varying bullet weights and powders.

When the cylinder is smooth like that, it is called 'unfluted'. I agree - they look great without flutes.

STG44!!!
Very cool purchase. I love the style, and the rimfire is so cheap to plink with.

aw man..... that's like buying a V6 Camaro.
Why?!?

We're off to the range again tonight. I'm thinking of giving the S&W 500 a try. But shooting the DE one handed is tempting. After binge watching "the walking dead" over the last week I realize the need to work on my pistol shots.

I am heading out to see my best friend in Chilliwack tomorrow and although he got his RPAL late last year, he has been trying to save up Cabelas gift cards to buy a shotgun. We've been friends for 30 years and has always been there for me time and time again, unbeknownst to him, I decided to pick him up his first rifle today - a 10/22 package from a guy that is moving back to Ireland and needed to sell everything.

Managed to get everything in the picture, plus safety glasses, a staple gun, flashlights, binoculars, an extra set of low rings, and 3500 rounds of Federal 38g JHP for $540. He is excited to get into shooting, so I hope this gets him hooked into this great sport of ours.

Managed to pick up a brand new CZ 452 Scout for my sons while I was on the road - I'm looking forward to the many hours of fun we are going to have with that rifle in the near future.

It's sad to see our options taken away. But let's face it. There are a lot of shitheaded gun nuts. The number of ignorant rednecks shooting up Stave lake has increased over the years, and the respect for the land has decreased. With all the ink lately about environmental impact of garbage and lead left in these areas, it was inevitable. I blame the SKS/12 guage crowd. Steel rounds and plastic shells have no value other than social responsibility to clean them up. And let's face it, a lot of these guys have no responsibility.

I like you guys a lot. There are some cool gun folks in this thread. Guys who are intelligent and respectful. Guys who I would go out to the bush to shoot with. But I also know a lot of idiots who own guns. This is why I have a hard time supporting the gun lobby as a whole. It's the same reason why I'm against conceal/carry laws. I love holstering when I'm at the range. But having some dumbass sweep the whole club as he cross holsters makes me realize that we are our own worst enemies.
