While we are on the topic, what happens if a dealer makes you sign a "no sale within a certain period" type of document?

If a need comes up and you have to sell, do you just get banned from ever buying another car from them? do they sue you for selling and thereby breaching the contract? or do you just have to sell the vehicle back to the issuing dealer if you really need to sell?

Like the Ford GT thing?

The contract said Ford had dibs on the car for a period of time... John Cena sold his and was successfully sued by Ford, they didn’t disclose how much but Ford donated the settlement to charity.

legal letters get sent out.

"no sale within certain period" / first right of refusal is same idea. its quite annoying.

but its there to control the market and to combat export out of market / flippers.

Hard to say. Some GSR's are popping up on CL and selling for $4-5K range but this one has mods and faded paint.

We did see a stock good condition one sell for $20K

I think $12K is good if the car is well sorted. Sad to see it only make 250 hp though.

If anyone is curious, car has the 2.5L motor with 201 hp.

Interesting. Maybe when the time comes for me to sell my GSR, I'll be able to recover all my years of storage insurance and parking spot rentals lol

What did you expect a non boosted hybrid k-swap to make? 250whp is quite a bit

I'm greedy. With the money invested in rebuilding the motor, would hope for 280 range.

** Oops, reread the post. I thought the motor was rebuilt but it wasn't.
250 hp is pretty good with a stock bottom end.

tofu1413 01-08-2021 03:03 PM

if the body on that red GSR was in better shape, $12k will be a pretty good asking price imo.

IMO once it's K swapped, it shouldn't really matter what trim level it was before. The quality of the parts and workmanship should determine the cost.

twitchyzero 01-08-2021 05:34 PM

si for half the price tho if you don’t need the hatch

I drove an 05 for 10 years. I really liked it. No torque but really fun to rev up and really zippy. Glad I have an auto for my commute though, now. I miss that car a lot.

If the clutch is still good, it's a fun car

Thanks! This is exactly the family car I was waiting to pop up, I believe its only one for sale locally bc

twitchyzero 01-08-2021 08:26 PM

do one better and wait for the matrix one

Akinari 01-08-2021 09:41 PM

There was a time I was interested in getting a Matrix XRS, but it seemed impossible at the time, and still continues to be impossible, to find one that hasn't been beat to absolute hell and back a few times.

I test drove one a few years ago. Mostly in good shape at 160k, but the clutch just wasn't holding anymore and I had to pass on it. Wasn't down to buy a market price car and then spend some more to do the clutch

underscore 01-09-2021 03:21 AM

My wifes old Matrix was a blast to drive, and it was just an automatic XR. 2ZZ models seem to be pretty hard to find though, and iirc the 1ZZ has better low end for the real world
