Oh no doubt. I had so much stupid fun in my friend's del Sol VTEC that I don't even know where to begin. And honest to God, his del Sol was the eye opener that turned me into the Honda fanboi that I have been ever since.

A Del Sol that makes more sense. I wonder if it's a D16Z6 instead of B16A2. $3500 I'd put a B18C if it didn't have a B

Just as much top-down fun as S2k + added comfort of targa + 1/3 the price.

Looks like a nice car but as much fun as an S2k seems like a huge stretch.

It's a targa vs convertible, 160hp vs 240hp, 5spd vs 6spd, ***FWD vs RWD***, a floppy chassis vs one of the best Honda has ever built, the list goes on and on...

Since we are sort of talking about S2000 and Honda's I was just hoping if you craigslist crawlers can keep an eye out for S2000/parts.
I just had my 2003 S2000 in GPW/tan interior + GPW OEM Hardtop stolen from my underground parking about 10 days ago.
It's been reported to the RCMP and ICBC but still no word from them on recovery.
I've been checking on and off craigslist to see if my car or any of the parts pop up for sale but none so far.
Easily recognizable parts would be GPW OEM Hardtop and black 17x9 949 Racing 6UL wheels.

TIA guys.

I check 4x a day for S2000 on Craigslist. I'll keep all 4 of my eyes out lol. Sorry to hear that man.

Shxt that sucks, man... When cars get stolen from gated garages, it always makes me wonder how that happens... :(

I know eh. I get paranoid and think maybe it's someone from the building.
Now I'm worried my other car as well.

I'm 6'3 and 230lbs-ish, a little heavier when I had my S2000. I fit no problems!

Looked a lot like this, same facial expression, same fashion sense too. Also, my hair would catch bees and other insects over the windshield line.

10/10 would drive again!

Gululu 07-17-2015 06:31 AM

your car was towed by thieves with their private light duty tow truck setup at 4-5am. it only takes 30 secs to tow and go. as for how they got into your Burnaby residence building, they had access via buzzer intercom password. yes there is a password for every condo building that can grant access. Obviously this code was leaked by someone from the towing industry (Mundie's). its just organized crime.

I have texts from the guy selling it in Chilliwak, he didn't know anything about the car, it sold for grand for sure.
And yes all it needed was a battery

Totally agree that 6250 for that del sol is way too much, I had a b18cr swapped one and it was a ton of fun to drive, 9k red line like my s2000, definitely faster too. But you just can't beat rwd.

This blue one for sale is a pretty decent deal, I'm going to check it out tomorrow. If it's all good, I'll finally have a car again lol! BTW I talked to the owner it's got a D16Z6

holy shit that sucks..
at first i thought you meant your parts were stolen not the entire car..
check ebay regularly as well, type in s2000 and filter the search tab to distance: nearest first.

Don't forget to check for leaking with the T-top -- basically all around the seals and window. It's a very common problem with the del Sol, esp the earlier model years like this blue one.

I know to look at the seals, but how would I know if they're no good?
Dry and cracked I guess?

If I were to do it, I'd just bring 2 big bottles of water and pour it directly over.

That'd be the most "real life" test I can think of, wouldn't you say?

Water ban. That would be a total waste of valuable water.
But also the best way to tell.

But there are other subtle ways too.
Look for water stains. Even black cloth seats would show some staining.
Check the smell in the car. Is the owner using an air freshener. Sometimes they try to mask the musky smell from moisture trapped in the carpets.

Do they have any moisture absorbing items in the car.
My parts car had something like this in it.

Check the seals and see if they tried to put some silicone to keep it from leaking.

PandaDog 07-17-2015 10:06 AM

I wouldn't touch an older model Del Sol unless you like swimming pools
Older style targa seals will be leaking. Trunk drain plugs get clogged, the sail panels have issues too

A crx is way better :spin:

Ex gf of mine parents bought the last gen Sky Turbo 5-speed. It just sits in the garage might have 20k on it. Future collector/appreciate? Doubt it, but who am I to say

Haha no doubt, need a hose to really see if it leaks there
Luckily my old del sol didn't leak, I just need a car right now so I'm not too picky, just don't want to buy a stock car and do anything lol

I dated a girl with a Sky auto, it feels like a very solid chassis!
