This is one of the best deals that has been posted in the entire thread. I hope an RS'er picks it up.

The gas gauge isn't mentioned in the ad - do you know the car? It's extremely tempting to go pick this up just to check it off the most own list. Anything else to know before checking it out? Rebuild story legit?

I emailed the guy back in October when he had it listed for 9 or 10k. He told me about the gas gauge issue, doesn't know much about the rebuilt status, claims the engine was replaced when the front end was rebuilt but no proof or documentation about it and no stock wheels.

Told me he could contact the previous owner about the rebuild history, but the above was enough for me to back out.

6500. Basically free compared to the rest of the market. If I wanted a type r I'd buy it just to look at for that price.

very cheap + fast = not reliable

fast + reliable = not super cheap

super cheap + reliable = not super fast

You get what you pay for. A mechanically inclined buyer using it for a track rat is the only future for this car I'm thinking. No one wants to fix up a rebuild title car for resale or even to drive. You'd lose your shirt. If it was 100% stock then I could see it as a decent buy. But fcuk, those wheel and that lip! Jeebus, just terrible.

The Producer 01-19-2016 09:30 AM

It's got to be worth something w the tranny fixed and stock wheels regardless of title status. It's not a concours car, but there has to be a market for 10~12k ITR if it inspects well.

thumper 01-19-2016 09:32 AM

... which is why i am wondering why no one will touch it. there must be more not mentioned. for example, i do not remember the transmission problems in previous ads.

Toyota Tercel Reduced to Sell!

I had a classmate of mine selling her tercel with 140,000km (manual transmission) for $1400 a few months ago. She also replaced the clutch not too long ago, car looked pretty clean. Too bad I saw the post too late, she probably already sold the car and moved out of the province. I assume it's a reliable, cheap car to learn manual on.

Red flags. Red flags everywhere!

My turbo Miata had an "OEM rebuild" by a local "Miata specialist" shop and it still blew up less than 20k later even with forged con rods. Really left a sour taste in my mouth since it happened quite recently.
