semi annual reminder that an object's value is subjective and is in no way related to it's age whatsoever. In my mind this is a WAY better value (subjectively) than a 3 year old civic for 25k.

there will absolutely be an 80's honda fan for whom 7k to relive his prime teenage years will feel like the bargain of the century.

if this was a 7k 1987 Scirocco 16v for example I would have bought it already. :fuckyea:

personally i liked the tail lights on a 91 lude vs an 80's, but i'm biased

It's in the details:

Original owner
Original condition (not modded)
Low KM (not rebuilt motor)
Maintained at Honda dealership (paper trail would be a huge plus)
Garage kept (major plus as these old Japanese cars loved to rust out)
As mentioned, the garage is neat and organized which speaks to type of people who own the car

A car like this would be better off selling to a Honda purist who would rather pay a bit more if the condition / history back up what the owners claim. The ricer craze of the late 90s / early 00s destroyed a lot of nice Hondas so it's extra special to see a clean, meticulously maintained all original car. I'm not crazy on 4ws due to costs but if this one works, great.

Also:

THIS car sold for $8000. I'd rather have the black one posted here.

Nvm.

I just think that gen Prelude is the runt of the litter when it comes to "vintage" Japanese cars.

twitchyzero 08-26-2020 01:46 PM

in terms of 4-wheel Hondas from the 80s
the prelude is up there with the Ef civic and crx

Qmx323 08-27-2020 10:30 AM

I had a 91 SR ALB Prelude in red.

That thing burnt oil BAD because of the cylinder lining material in that specific motor (B21A1 - Over bored B20A5) in that trim.

In 1987, Road & Track published a test summary that shows the 1988 Honda Prelude 2.0Si 4WS outperforming every car of that year on the slalom, with a speed of 65.5 mph (105.4 km/h), even besting exotics such as Porsche and Ferrari. For reference, the 1988 Chevrolet Corvette C4 took the same course at 64.9 mph (104.4 km/h).

This might also by why theres a decent following behind that generations Prelude.

I had an '88 Si when I was 19 and that thing was a fucking tank. I did everything I could do be an abusive shit head kid in that car and it just took it. Never since have I had a car that was so reliable, especially considering what it went through under my ownership. If I had more space, I would buy another in a heartbeat.

some of the best cars that most car guys owned, were the ones that were not their prized posessions

the one that gets shit kicked, driven off the cliff and an interior biohazard with fond le sexy time memories seems to be the most memorable ones and best cherished.

Nice find!

There was a white/blue, 90/91 that sold in Victoria a couple of months ago for $2k. Got snatched up right away. It's my favourite combo, plus no 4ws.

Love the seat cover that’s used by Hong Kong Taxi and mini bus drivers

I have a passenger mirror for sale in the right colour. I recall ad said the mirror doesn't work or something.

SkydiveDan 08-27-2020 08:30 PM

Not sure if it's a good deal at $4500 but I can't remember the last time I saw a 91 CRX Special Edition for sale.

Congrats! Was the car's conditional as advertised? I was shocked to see a GS430 for little money. I was tempted to see it, but I have no need for one :stupid: :derp:

Congrats on the new car, I was also tempted to go look at it and maybe buy it for shits and giggles, but I barely drive my car as is (<5000km this year so far) and it'll just sit and take up space.
