Not too sure yet. Going to tear into it and clean up the interior, I reckon it's salvageable. May flip it.

If I part it out I may keep the engine to rebuild as a spare for my other Miata.

Funny you mention the lift kit, because I considered that and using it as my ski rig for this season. It'd be ridiculous.

Then there are the Lotus-7 kits based on Miata bits........ but with how much it rains here and garage space at a premium maybe not.

Too many options!

Hard top is going to be wrapped or spray bombed and put on my BRG. Once that's done and the BRG gets a few other things fixed up, it's getting repainted and a collector plate application.

jaaagman 01-08-2019 10:18 AM

What is the condition of the car that came with the hardtop? :lawl: I know the mileage was high and it was supposed to be in rough condition, but what are your initial impressions?

Yeah, there was that Westfield based on a Miata wasn't there? Flyin' Miata were the dealer for that in the US but I can't find it on their website any more. I don't know if it's possible to get one of those legal in Canada either.

Build a Locost.

kjlks 01-09-2019 07:37 PM

Not sure where to ask this and this seems like the best place so,

How would I go about buying an Alberta registered car in BC? Do I just get the bill of sale then OOP?

Fafine 01-09-2019 08:10 PM

It'll be easier if they can get the oop inspection done before purchasing if its still insured.

If you were to buy it, you can't insure it until its passed oop inspection- They will let you buy a one day insurance so you can drive to the inspection spot.

denham 01-09-2019 11:11 PM

On the same topic... I dream of flying to the east coast, buying a car out there, then driving it back. Would it be a pain in the ass getting it plated and insured over there to drive back here?

twitchyzero 01-09-2019 11:15 PM

i dont see why, but i wouldn't bother with the hassle of going all the way there only to find it's not in the condition represnted in the ad (east coast rust)

unless it's a steal and/or a unicorn

Yeah that's a good point. I just thought it would be a fun adventure and kind of nice to only drive one direction. But yes maybe more bother than it's worth.

Might be more fun getting something like an elise, or a defender shipped to the east coast (or Montreal) and drive that back.

I just want to say that shade of green on that ricer looks amazing when it's wet. Doesn't matter what car it's on. Case in point: https://vancouver.craigslist.org/nvn...760236755.html

EDIT: R Mutt is the owner. It's posted in the Classified section

The Elise has been my dream car since I got a ride in one at the Lotus factory in the UK around their test track by the chief test driver. So much fun! I got to drive one at autox a few years ago which was great. I'd love one of those but I don't have anywhere to store a 2nd car right now. Maybe one day although I imagine prices are just going to keep going up and by the time I can afford one I still can't afford one.

Getting a car shipped over there is a good idea.

westopher 01-10-2019 03:16 PM

Never thought I’d see Patrick sell his evo. That car is fucking incredible. Like some sort of super wolf with a machine gun in wolfs clothing.

tofu1413 01-10-2019 04:05 PM

man, that evo is insane in person.

you guys should see it in action.

R. Mutt 01-10-2019 04:21 PM

:D Thanks guys, great to see the car make it in this thread and yea, I never thought I'd be selling it too...big part of me hopes no one will buy it. Mature part of me says stop being a man child and move on. We'll see what happens...I bet I will regret it but I have to put the wife before the wif3y otherwise my ass might end up like George Soros...but way way poorer. :alone:

R. Mutt, what's your new toy/daily tho? :alonehappy:

R. Mutt 01-10-2019 07:07 PM

No new toy. I daily a stock 2017 golf R, had it over a year now so if the evo sells I’ll likely modify it over time...not buying anything else right now.

How are you liking the Golf R? I've looked at them now and then but haven't driven one yet. Currently driving a Focus ST and I like the idea of AWD and a little more power.
