^ After watching that lap video of the Fiesta ST, it looks so much more manageable than when i see the balls out hot laps of GTR's and NSX's

weird situation - YouTube

transmission problem, pulled over to get out of your way instead of coast up the hill

boatcaptain 06-16-2014 03:11 PM

crappy day for both of us.my 3rd gear synchro and 5th is done.now i gota get the transmission rebuilt.in my video, your car broke traction. did you mis-shift?

!Kodamu 06-16-2014 03:31 PM

Broke my personal best by 4sec from last year. Never would have thought just getting a kpro can have that much of a difference

My last session of the day playing with a GT3

Props to the Miata on that last vid! Pretty ballsy to be able to make an Elise work like it did. Hope to see some of you guys on the next one zooming past me.

that miata isnt simple :hotbaby: and also a great driver teaching me lots about proper speeds throughout the course that helped me beat my PR by 5 seconds

dared3vil0 06-16-2014 07:38 PM

Is August 16th a ridge track day? If so, where do i sign up?

boatcaptain 06-16-2014 07:51 PM

That was the whole point! Just got back from the ridge. We had 7 sessions today but part way through the 5th session I hit a hole on turn 9a on the side of the curb. I think the tiny tiny bit of stretch caused my tire to go in the hole and the wheel lip took all the impact. Totally folded the lip of the inner barrel. I'm bummed my day ended like that, but its pretty minor and I had a great time regardless. Someones 964 caught fire. Now thats a bad day. It was saved, but some damage ensued.:QQ:
I need to get ahold of a 40 hole 17x6.5 work barrel.
I'll post some photos up soon. Ridge is incredible, and very challenging. It rained very hard in the afternoon and made for a fun time testing out the track in the rain, albeit much slower.
Great job by Rick and the rest of the VCMC crew!

I don't see anything on the 16th other than a vintage cars race... :suspicious:

boatcaptain 06-16-2014 08:03 PM

i see it. august 15-16 turn 2 event at the ridge motorsport park

dared3vil0 06-16-2014 08:08 PM

Ohhh i didn't have distance set long enough.

Only issue is the "noob" group or "C" group reads;

"The C group are for drivers that have recently been signed off solo by a recognized instructor from Turn2 or another company like HOD, or a car club like BMW or PCA."

I'm not signed off for solo.

boatcaptain 06-16-2014 08:14 PM

i would recommend going to a pca event or bmw. an instructor will be beside you and teach you through out the day for free. it have less sessions compare to turn 2 event. but if its your first track day,4 session is enough imo.

bcrdukes 06-16-2014 08:39 PM

You can e-mail or call Tom @ Turn 2. If you let him know well in advance, he can arrange for an instructor to pair up with you. That or follow boatcaptain's suggestions and do an instruction day with PCA or BMW. They often have events @ Pacific Raceway or The Ridge.

Guess the LTW decision has been made for you. How did the tire handle it? Shitty deal either way.

dared3vil0 06-16-2014 08:46 PM

I'll send Tom an email shortly.

Assuming he can set it up for an instructor etc, anyone want to convoy down?

mb_ 06-16-2014 08:46 PM

Fuck can't find any upcoming track days at Mission/Ridge/Pacific that's on a Sunday or Monday :okay:

def the best one there

theres also boatcaptain, kodamu, myself, and many lurkers that are willing to help

but out of all of us slowguy is actually the fastest

bcrdukes 06-16-2014 08:48 PM

Seeing kodamu's video was VERY impressive. That's some real skill, and having the ability to show what a FWD platform can do, nevermind being powered by the K20 engine. :woot:

Tire is fine, didn't even lose any pressure. Shimmied like a motherfucker though.

boatcaptain 06-16-2014 09:00 PM

hope tat wont b an expensive repair for ur wheel :(

westopher 06-16-2014 09:08 PM

Its no big deal. I feel for you much more needing to get your transmission rebuilt. Really bummed for the guy with the 964 with the electrical fire. Thats really scary stuff. They got to it while it was really mostly just melting plastic/wiring. Hopefully its no devastating damage.

boatcaptain 06-16-2014 09:15 PM

yeah because of the transmission and my weird braking problem. i cant attend the annual miata meet at laguna this year
