I saw that Kane was traded this morning and was a little sad, a tiny part of me wanted to see the Canucks pursue him. Would have been more exciting than watching this season's product. If we had to field a similar offer wouldn't it be like? Any of Kassian/Higgins/Jansen Edler (Myers) - Underachieving big defensemen Jensen (Armia) - prospect that is getting older yet not proven enough Shinkaruk (Lemieux) - Former high pick, doing well in the minors 1st Round Pick <> Kane & Bogosian Would have made more sense, but I heard they wanted Horvat/Virtanen which isn't worth it IMO. Given that Jets GM Cheveldayoff had next to zero leverage (aka Kesler?) he came out of this deal grinning ear to ear. On a talent based deal I would give the edge to Buffalo, Kane is a speedy skater, strong on the puck and can score. The problem is his head. Kane had expressed he wanted to play in his hometown so he might actually be focused. But Buffalo? Who's to say he won't wear his track suit to the game again or walk after his contract expires? He already didn't care to play for the Jets who are in the thick of a playoff race, why would he have any motivation to play for a bottom-feeding team like the Sabres? I think if the other teams held off a bit longer the Jets would have got more desperate (ala Luongo) since he's eating up $6m capspace. Somebody mentioned to trade for Santorelli, I am super against it only because of the fact that we literally LET him leave, now we want to trade away assets to get him back? Talk about the kick to the face... |
Doubt Edler would waive his ntc to go to the sabres Why not Santorelli? He's a pending ufa so it might be cheap. He was great at the top six and pk role before he got injured iirc. Plus now Bonino is injured which was why they let him walk. They figured they had an abundance of Centers and at 29 he didn't fit the getting young mantra. But he could work out here in the short term, esp if Bonino/Richardson are expected to be out long-term. If needed he could supplant Higgins in the line up. |

Lmao Kassian. Now he just needs to keep this up til April... |
This Canucks team is fucked up this year, win a big game lose big over and over... The feels are good when we are beating Chicago tho |
Kass has 3 goals in 3 games. Higgies with 2 assist tonight. Woohoo. Now please keep this up for the rest of the season. |

Again, with the awesome line changes  :rukidding: |
now that was an interesting goal lol |
fkin lol |
So now what do we need to close this game? Bench the twins? I'm being serious too. Henrik with the lazy change causes the too many men penalty. Daniel with the lazy hook which led to the third goal. There was a play where Daniel has the puck and he lazily back hands it into the zone but traps 2 of his own team mates down low. I know the the irony since it was the twins that combined on the 4th goal. I take it back. Flame suit on. |
DANIEL REDEMPTION!! |
