Best part of that game was seeing all the Canuck's dads jumping up when Daniel scored the OT winner

Report: Shanahan authorized to rebuild Maple Leafs; Kessel, Phaneuf not in plans

Team president Brendan Shanahan, who is believed to endorse the idea of a major overhaul of the roster, received approval from the Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment board to initiate such a process in a recent meeting, according to Cathal Kelly of the Globe and Mail.

Management is believed to have targeted the likes of Morgan Rielly, William Nylander, Jonathan Bernier, Nazem Kadri, James van Riemsdyk and Jake Gardiner as core players to build around, yet will not go as far as to label anyone untouchable.

Further to that, Kelly reported Phil Kessel and Dion Phaneuf - key pieces acquired in former general manager Brian Burke's building process - are not in the team's plan, and the goal is to trade them at some point before the March 2 deadline or in the offseason in exchange for top prospects and draft picks.

Interesting that there's no mention of Cody Franson, who has been one of their better players, regardless of contract dispute or not

Well you can't send a player you grabbed off waivers to the AHL without putting him back on waivers first and 1st priority would go to the team you claimed him from as an automatic pass through to the AHL. So he likely is staying up here for now.

Nabatron 02-12-2015 09:31 AM

^shiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeet! His stats over all arent that great puzzled on the pick up since he is another bottom 6 player which we dont need...

He's from Delta so it seems that Benning want's to bring in local talent which is a smart idea.

6o4__boi 02-12-2015 09:49 AM

lol prolly a depth move
or another option to stare Kassian down when Kenins is underperforming :troll:

Read that so-called "scorched earth" policy for a Leafs rebuild. At least they realized that building a team through trades is pointless. Good luck trading Phaneuf's shitty contract.

Jmac 02-12-2015 09:58 AM

McMillan is a good forechecker. Uses his speed, throws his body around a fair amount. Not much there offensively. Think Jannik Hansen but not as good.

Not sure if that argument stands since we shipped off Garrison in the off season. And he wanted to play in his hometown.

we needed the cap space sadly

highfive 02-12-2015 10:44 AM

I'm afraid that Richardson and Bonino might be out longer than we expected and needed another bottom 6.

Sedins Burrows
Higgins Vey Vrbata
Dorsett Matthias Kassian
Kenins Horvat Hansen

Need that extra forward I guess and I don't think they want to call someone up from Utica at the moment.

spideyv2 02-12-2015 10:54 AM

^That's a brutal looking second line

highfive 02-12-2015 10:55 AM

^they did score a nice highlight reel goal yesterday...haha

6o4__boi 02-12-2015 11:05 AM

the hits stats surprised me
Blackhawks are 30th in terms of hitting at 15.6/game
Canucks are 18.4/game (no surprise)

I just never really noticed that the Hawks don't hit that much
Kings are tops with 33.6/game

Obsideon 02-12-2015 06:44 PM

Top minute munchers Keith and Seabrook are more about positioning?
Kane only hits cab drivers.

murd0c 02-12-2015 07:57 PM

So Hanzel is done for the season now, guess we don't need to talk about that trade any more

Hondaracer 02-12-2015 08:02 PM

Linden didnt like Kassian swearing after the goal so he'll be sitting tom night
