Why the LA Kings missed the playoffs:

They are 1-7 in OT, and 2-8 in shootouts.

They got 3 out of 18 points in games that went to overtime. Even if they went a normal .500 in those games, they would have an extra 6 points... which means they would have 99 points right now, the same as the Canucks.

not gonna lie but i like the Flames chances a tiny bit better, Canucks have always been so-so against young teams that are good in transition and have good foot speed.
I'm still expecting an epic 7 game series but really at this point it's anyone's guess. I don't think anyone has a significant edge over the other.
Either way my expectations have been exceeded...i'm just glad there's still hockey for at least a few more weeks.
